YAP - Young and Professionals of Sweetwater County
The mission of Young and Professional (YAP) of Sweetwater County is to provide career-minded individuals with opportunities to develop socially, professionally and civically.
• Social - Meet other young professionals through monthly meetings and activities that will provide a safe and fun environment to network.
• Professional - Gain education
on a variety of topics to enrich both their personal and professional lives
• Civic - Members are provided opportunities to get involved and/or donate to various non-profit organization and events throughout the year. YAP of Sweetwater County is a committee of the Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce, governed directly by the YAP Board of Directors and overseen by the Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Executive Director.
2016 Member Socialization/Professional Events
YAP meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month, doors open at 6:00pm, guest speakers and presentations begin at 6:30pm. Coyote Creek Steakhouse has graciously provided us their downstairs meeting area and light appetizers free of charge.
• Monthly Meetings: January 8th, February 11th, March 10th, April 14th, May 12th, June 9th, July 14th, August 11th, September 8th, October 13th, November 10th
2016 Special Member Events:
• August 8th – Blues n’ Brews-YAP Annual fundraiser, organized in part by the YAP sub-committee and the Rock Springs URA.
• August 20th – Float trip on the Green River - a member favorite, introducing participants to the various outdoor adventures available in Sweetwater County and the surrounding area.
• October 31st – Halloween Party -Both a social event and a fundraiser for our annual Thanksgiving Dinners donation.
• December 8th – Ugly Sweater Party-Another member favorite event and fundraiser for Toys for Kids through the RSFD
Other events and activities are scheduled throughout the year on an informal basis. Civic Organizations and Volunteering:
• Volunteering at the Big Show/County Fair. Checking IDs, etc.
• Volunteer Hours before and at the Blues n Brews event.
• Big Brother Big Sister Youth Organization. We donate money and time to help their Littles get ready for the coming school year. Each child has a “Back to School Supply List” and a budget, we make sure they purchase everything on their list, and stick to their budget.
• Donate Thanksgiving Dinners to local families, this Money is collected during our Halloween Stroll Event.
• Toys for Kids, Rock Springs Fire Department. Collect toys and donations at our Ugly Sweater Party
• Kari’s Access Award-Money donated to be given as scholarship for students who don't normally qualify for scholarship.
• Boys and Girls Club-Money donated to help them with the Tree Of Sharing Program in 2015
• Rock Springs High School Backpack food program-Money donated to help them provide backpacks filled with food to children who are in need throughout the weekend. Information on local organizations and non-profits is provided when there are needs for volunteers or board members throughout the year. Annual Dues:
Dues run from January-December and are $25/year for chamber members (if the company the YAP member works for is a member of the Rock Springs Chamber) and $35/year for non-members. Dues go to providing door prizes, special events and other non-profit donations throughout the year! Board of Directors:
