The Tax Commissioners office in Rock Spring will remain closed to the public through Thursday, April 23rd. The office in Rossville (2012 McFarlane Gap Road) will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday to accommodate the public. There will be six fully staffed windows available.

This is for the Rock Spring location. The Rossville location is open today.

The Walker County Local Government Services building, located at 122 Highway 95 in Rock Spring, will be closed to the public today, April 17. A pipe burst overnight flooding several offices and public spaces. This building houses the tag and tax office, assessors office, planning and zoning, and codes enforcement departments. The Tax Commissioner's office in Rossville remains open.

Walker Transit will operate on a 2 hour delay Monday morning, picking up clients at 8:00 a.m.

Here is the latest update on the roads & the Cold Weather Advisory. Our office is open today till 5PM.

Updated at 8:15am: Roads in Walker County are passable this morning, but motorists will encounter patches of ice and slick spots in some locations, especially on Lookout Mountain.

We will reopen Nickajack Road at 9:00 a.m. Dougherty Gap Road will remain closed today. Road crews will continue to spot treat slick areas reported by first responders.

The warming shelters in Rossville in LaFayette will be winding down around noon.

An additional Cold Weather Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for 8:00 p.m. tonight through 9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
