Concerns Arise Over VantageScore 4.0 Readiness

Following Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director William J. Pulte’s announcement yesterday that lenders who sell mortgages to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac can use VantageScore 4.0 credit scoring along with, or in place of, FICO scores in their current tri-merge system, some aren’t sure that can happen “effective immediately,” as Pulte put it.

For instance, will internal processes and systems need to be adjusted to accommodate VantageScore 4.0? Will staff involved in underwriting require training on VantageScore 4.0’s methodology and score ranges?

Maybe this won’t be just a “flip of a switch,” so to speak.

But there’s more than one school of thought on this: Others quickly praised Pulte’s announcement, saying it could lower costs of loan origination by increasing market competition and ultimately could expand access to credit.

Federal Reserve Fun

Hello Friends, Associates and Clients. Today Chairman Powell advised our country that his Department was reducing the Fed Rate by a quarter. For a quick reminder, Fed rate drops do not always give us lower mortgage rates, and the bond market is not showing signs of any real reduction any time soon.....
