What have you enjoyed the most about your job?

What’s your favorite game?

Winter, spring, summer, or autumn?
- Fall is my favorite season! I love the changing colors, sweatshirt weather, fires, camping, and time with the family.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? Ambivert?
- I am an ambivert.

What have you enjoyed the most about your job?
- What I've enjoyed most about my job is that no two days are ever the same and that our office truly has a family-like atmosphere. Working in personal lines, I handle remarkets and renewals, which allows me to connect with our insureds and touch base with many of them year after year. I enjoy building those relationships, getting to know our clients, and helping them find the coverage that best fits their needs.

Do you enjoy cooking or baking?
- I love to bake and often joke that I'm a stress baker! I enjoy trying out new recipes and adding my own little twists. One of my favorite parts is sharing what I make with others, especially members of my church whom I consider my grandparents.

Morning person or night owl?
- Definitely a night owl! I like staying up and reading a good book or binge watching a good series.

Winter, spring, summer, or autumn?
- Autumn - give me pumpkin everything and sweater weather!

If you could make any one species go extinct, what would it be? Any?
-Snakes!

What have you enjoyed the most about your job?
-The thing I enjoy most is getting to help people. Whether that be servicing, quoting, or just answering questions, I really love to help clients and make their lives easier when it comes to insurance.

What’s a hobby or activity you really enjoy outside of work?
-The first is building Legos. I have around 30 different completed sets right now and my list of ones I want is always growing. The second is reading. Barnes and Noble loves to see me coming on payday!

Do you have any pets? Tell us about them!
- I have two cats, and they were both rescues off the street in town. I have a tuxedo cat named Silky (although I called her "Pookie" so much that she now only responds to that), who is truly my soul-cat. She is so cuddly and loves to sit in my lap while I read. I also have my tiger cat named Baby. She is a total spaz and has ripped down all of my curtains at some point, but I love her anyway!

Do you play any musical instruments?
- I sing more than anything else, but I have played clarinet for around 10 years, and still play in an orchestra, and played both alto saxophone and tenor saxophone in high school.

Winter, spring, summer, or autumn?
- Autumn is the only correct answer. The food, the weather, the candles, everything is just the best in the fall!

What have you enjoyed the most about your job?
-I have held roles in every department of our agency but have found Commercial Lines to be the area I enjoy the most, because I love working with small business owners and entrepreneurs. I enjoy hearing why they started their business, what gave them an idea, or how they developed a new product. I especially enjoy working with start-up companies and being hands-on as we build their insurance portfolio together to best protect their exciting new business.

What’s your favorite 3pm snack?
-I snack all day long and have a drawer in my office with a variety of treats. Most often it is pistachios, beef jerky, or Larabars. I do try to keep a supply of Dove dark chocolates on hand too for when a sweet craving hits.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
-My superpower would be to replicate myself. I could be in two places at once and accomplish so much!

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? Ambivert?
-When it comes to casual socializing, small talk, or meeting new people I am absolutely an introvert. I am more comfortable standing in front of a large group of people to give a prepared speech, than having an unplanned conversation with a small group or even one person. If you catch me at a community event, you'll likely witness me happily smiling but keeping to myself or my family. It's not that I don't want to talk to you, I just don't know what to say to get the conversation started.

Beach vacation, city break, or outdoor adventure?
-Outdoor adventure for sure! My idea of vacation is spending time with my family in nature. (Easily relatable to that introvert question ;) ) I would watch the sunrise and listen to the birds as they awake with the light, go for a hike, kayak and fish on a lake, take in God's handiwork in all of His beautiful creation, and end the day around a campfire.

‼️ If your property is damaged by a storm, here are the key steps to take afterward: ‼️

1. Ensure Safety First: Check for immediate hazards like downed power lines, gas leaks, or structural damage. If necessary, evacuate and contact emergency services.

2. Document the Damage: Take photos and videos of all damage. Start making a detailed list of damaged or lost items, including their estimated value and purchase date.

3. Prevent Further Damage: Cover exposed areas with tarps, board up broken windows, or take other reasonable steps to prevent additional harm. You can do this by contacting Servpro (574-316-4672) or ServiceMaster (574-498-3425) to start the restoration/mitigation process for you!
Keep all receipts for temporary repairs—these may be reimbursed by your insurer.

5. Contact Your Insurance Agency: File a claim as soon as possible if the damage is moderate-severe. Ask about next steps, including adjuster visits and temporary living expenses if needed.

Yesterday we celebrated nearly 40 years of dedicated service and the turning of a page, as Rob Sawyer steps into a new chapter, retiring as an agent for The Smith Sawyer Smith Agency.

Rob is a second-generation Sawyer here in the agency and has carried forward The Smith Sawyer Smith Agency values with his involvement in many community organizations, participation in agency outreach events, and service-with-a-smile to his many agency clients.

Inside the office, Rob is known for his love of all things red velvet, incredible sport stat knowledge (especially baseball!), and impressive repertoire of lyrics and songs from all the greatest musicals.

Outside the office, we know him as a loving husband, devoted father, and proud TCU alum! We’ve heard he plays a mean game of racquet ball and is not too shabby on the golf course either.

We are thankful to continue the business relationships he has built on trust and are committed to serving his clients with the next generation of agents dedicated to industry knowledge and skill.

Congratulations, Rob! We wish you all the best in the adventures ahead!
