Most of you know that my company helps seniors choose their Medicare plans. My team and I have many seniors who take Eliquis. They have been buying it from Canada because it is less expensive. Today we learned the following:
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has enacted a new policy governing international mail shipments, with key requirements scheduled to take effect on October 22, 2026. We have just learned that, under the planned implementation by CBP and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), virtually all prescription medication parcels will be prohibited from entering the United States beginning on that date.
We just had a client call to order, and they were told that this is the last order that will be filled. Eliquis will cost significantly more buying it in the United States through a prescription drug plan. This will affect both Medicare Advantage plans and stand-alone plans.
There are other prescription drugs that have cost seniors less when orrderd from Canada besides Eliquis. ALL drugs will be prohibited from entering the US beginning on Oct. 22nd.
An American nonprofit advocacy group The Campaign for Personal Prescription Importation (CPPI) is urgently organizing patients and supporters to fight for continued access.
