If you woke up to downed trees, branches in the yard, or home damage, you're definitely not alone across the Rochester area and Olmsted County. A few quick tips if your property took a hit:
Snap photos of any damage before you start cleanup, and keep them for your claim/records.
If you need repairs, stick with reputable local contractors; after storms like this, traveling "storm chaser" crews often show up going door-to-door, and they're not always around to stand behind their work later.
And a safety reminder: stay far away from any branches or trees tangled up with power lines, and leave those to the utility crews.
One more thing worth knowing: if a tree from your yard fell onto your own property, that cleanup is on you as the homeowner (even if a City crew clears part of a street or right-of-way first). Your homeowners policy may still help with the cost.
