Two years ago, I asked a question.

This week, I found myself thanking God that I did. 🤍

Someone close to me lost her husband after a short battle with cancer. Years ago, through one of our conversations, we finally put in place the life insurance he had been putting off.

He was young. They had young children. No one thought they would need it this soon.

And this week, in the middle of unimaginable grief, I was able to say:

“I’ve got you. I’ll take care of this and help get your family the money you need.”

Money will never replace someone you love. But it can help protect the home, the children, and the life a family built together when everything else has suddenly changed.

This is why life insurance has never felt like a sale to me.

Sometimes our job is simply to ask the question someone keeps putting off.

Thank God I asked. 🤍

I learned something about my dad recently that made me even prouder to be his daughter. 🤍

During fall planning last November, a woman who was one of my father’s peers came up to me and told me something I had never known.

Decades ago, as women were entering the agency force in a very different business environment, she remembered my dad as one of the most welcoming agents to the female hires.

He opened his office to them. Shared his resources. Helped train them.

She remembered that all these decades later.

Her story meant even more because years later, I had a very different experience as a woman navigating my own career.

I was a top producer, on track to earn $100,000+, when I was offered a “promotion” into a primarily service-focused role paying around $50,000.

When I questioned why I would walk away from the earning potential I had created through my performance, a male leader responded:

“You make more than my wife. Aren’t you happy?”

I’ve never forgotten it.

Because I wasn’t asking whether I made enough for a woman.

I was asking why a top performer should cut her earning potential roughly in half and call it advancement.

There is a difference between gratitude and knowing your value.

And there is a difference between saying you support women in business and actually opening doors for them.

My dad understood that decades ago.

He didn’t decide what should be “enough” for the women around him. He gave them resources, shared what he knew and helped them succeed.

That’s what supporting women in business looks like.

Today, as a woman and business owner myself, I’m incredibly proud that this is part of my father’s legacy.

And it’s one I intend to continue. 🤍

Some customers become so much more than customers. ❤️

This is Lenny with Ringo. Ringo and his mom were regular visitors to our office, and seeing the two of them always brought a little extra joy to our day.

Sadly, we lost his mom this summer. We miss seeing her — and Ringo — come through our doors. It was truly an honor and a joy getting to know her, and we’re grateful we had the opportunity to help her and her family. Ringo is now safe and loved with family. 🐾❤️

Moments like this remind us why the conversations we have about life insurance matter so much. None of us knows how much time we’ll have, and when we’re able to help a family put protection in place before the unexpected happens, we know we’ve done one of the most important parts of our job.

Today is Kate’s last day with our agency, and we couldn’t let her go without celebrating an incredible summer! 🎓❤️

As a senior finance student at Michigan State University, Kate came into her internship with a strong foundation in finance — and spent the summer seeing how insurance and risk protection fit into the bigger financial picture.

One of my favorite takeaways from her experience: you can plan for someone’s financial future and help them grow, but protecting what they’re building is just as important.

That’s exactly what I hoped this internship would provide — an opportunity to take concepts out of the classroom, see them applied in the real world, and connect the pieces.

Kate, thank you for spending your summer learning, contributing, asking questions, showing up for our community, and being part of our team. We’re excited to see where your senior year and future in finance take you! 🤍
