In 2015, Tom moved our headquarters from Pontiac, our home since 1941, to Rochester Hills. Since then he has:

Grown Chief Financial to serve Rochester Hills, Pontiac, Troy, and Dearborn
Opened our Community Center on South Main, a branch with event space and meeting rooms anyone in the community can use
Made us the official credit union of Leader Dogs for the Blind and Rochester Christian University
Built a team where giving back is simply how we work

Today is International Credit Union Day. ❤️

Credit unions operate in about ninety countries, and the idea holds up in all of them. The people who use the institution are the people who own it.

No outside shareholders. No quarterly return owed to someone in another state. Decisions made by people who live where you live.

We are proud to be part of that, in Rochester Hills, Pontiac, Troy, Dearborn, and Downtown Rochester.

$20,000 is going to Michigan nonprofits this holiday season. 🎁

It's called the Chief Cares Holiday Nonprofit Video Contest. Michigan 501(c)(3) nonprofits send us a 60 to 90 second video, and the public votes. There are two categories, annual revenue under $2 million and $2 million and up, and the winner in each gets a $10,000 grant.

Entries are due Saturday, October 31, at 11:59 PM ET.

We will never call you and ask you to move your money to a safe account.

There is no such thing. That call is one of the most expensive scams running right now, and it works because it sounds like someone helping you.

We will also never ask for your PIN, your password, or your full account number.

If a call ever feels off, even one that looks like it is from us, hang up and call the number on the back of your card. We will thank you for it.

Pick a family safe word tonight. It takes four minutes. 💙

Eight years ago, cloning someone's voice took about twenty hours of recordings. AARP reports it now takes roughly three seconds of audio and a photo.

So the old advice, that you would recognize your own grandchild's voice, does not hold up anymore.

The fix is low tech. Choose a word only your family knows. Rubber ducky. Fred Flintstone. Anything.

If someone calls in a panic asking for money and cannot say the word, it is not them.

Michigan has a way of turning a good October decision into a great February, or the other way around.

Lots are clearing last year's models right now. Our auto loans start at 3.99% APR, new, used, or refinancing what you already have, and the decision gets made by people who drive the same roads you do.

If you got a text about an unpaid toll, the tell is easy. 🚩

Michigan does not have toll roads.

The message asks for something small, eleven or twelve dollars, and threatens a fifty dollar late fee if you wait. Small enough to just pay. Urgent enough to skip thinking about. That is deliberate.

Delete it. Do not tap the link. The link is the point.

AARP has been tracking these all year, and Michigan phones keep buzzing anyway.
