We love showcasing our beautiful historic mansion and proud to be here in Lansing!! Thank you for the shoutout! 🌆
Where’s a good place to see a variety of architectural columns? Downtown Lansing offers several great examples, mostly within walking distance. The Michigan State Capitol features both Tuscan and Corinthian columns on its east facing façade, and additional Corinthian examples support the dome above. Pro tip – take a guided tour, they’re free! Around the corner, the former Masonic Temple building at 217 S. Capitol Avenue includes two substantial Doric columns right along the sidewalk. A few blocks north, the former Public Library attached to the Lansing Community College University Center at 214 W. Shiawassee Street offers another Tuscan example, with a great example of Corinthian columns adorning the front of the former home at 615 N. Capitol Avenue, today Mourer Foster Bonds and Insurance Inc. Looking for the elusive Ionic? Jump in the car for the short drive north to the Turner-Dodge House & Heritage Center at 100 E. North Street, which like the Capitol is also open for tours! Greater Lansing Convention & Visitors Bureau
