Last month’s 4th Annual Steaks on Main brought over 2,000 people to the downtown Bonham square for a full day of competition, community, and good eats with all the fixings. 🥩

What started as a simple idea to celebrate agriculture and foster community spirit has grown into an annual event that brings together the Bonham and Fannin County community. Attendees enjoyed the annual steak cookoff, brand-new youth cookoff, dinner, live music from The Bellamy Brothers and a whole lot of fellowship between neighbors and friends. 🤠

Proceeds from the event were split equally among every Fannin County FFA chapter and 4-H, directly supporting the next generation of ag.

This event was founded by our very own Jaylen Wallace through The Fannin Agricultural Association, and we are so proud of what he has built. A big thank you to the TFC team members from across our Bonham, Greenville, and Sulphur Springs branches who showed up and made it all happen.

To everyone who came out to cook, compete, serve, support, and put your Passion Forward, thank you for making this community something truly special. 💚

The mental load of farming, along with the emotional weight of financial pressures and uncertainty, rarely gets talked about.

“Rural communities face significant mental health disparities driven by various factors, including challenging economies,” said Texas Farm Credit CEO Mark Miller. “We cannot sustain our farms, ranches and rural communities without first supporting the people who run them.”

This Mental Health Awareness Month, Texas Farm Credit wants producers and agricultural communities to know that help is available, and you don't have to carry it alone.

Here are go-to resources to find help or share to support others in your community: https://texasfarmcredit.com/resources/mental-health-awareness-month-supporting-rural-stress-and-well-being-in-texas-agriculture/

Texas Farm Credit’s Weslaco Branch welcomed Brandon Menjares, East Foundation Ranch Management Intern, and Elisa Velador, East Foundation Education Curriculum Manager, for a conversation on credit, lending, and the loan process for agricultural producers.

Michael Limon and Mark Limon discussed key financial tools, common financing decisions, and the importance of building a trusted relationship with your lender. Next month, Texas Farm Credit interns and staff will visit East Foundation’s San Antonio Viejo ranch to learn more about the Foundation’s ranching and wildlife operations and the research projects conducted with various partners on land stewardship and wildlife conservation.

Texas Farm Credit and East Foundation share a longstanding partnership rooted in a shared commitment to agriculture, land stewardship, and the next generation of producers. Collaborating on internship programs is just one of the ways both organizations continue to support each other’s missions and the future of rural Texas.

May is both Military Appreciation Month and Mental Health Awareness Month. Texas Farm Credit member Jim Kniestedt’s story speaks to both.

A retired veteran, Jim founded the Kniestedt Foundation to give fellow veterans dealing with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries something powerful: time outdoors and space to heal.

“Instead of being trapped into an ‘I’m all alone’ situation, it really brings ’em out,” Jim explains. Watch the full version of his inspiring story linked in the comments.

Texas Farm Credit is proud to support Jim as both a financing partner and an advocate for his vision to uplift veterans and their families. 🇺🇸

Living is simply sweeter in the country with more space to roam, fresh air to breathe, and the kind of quiet that lets your family truly settle in.

If you’re dreaming of a rural home, Texas Farm Credit can help you get there. Our local mortgage lenders know this land because they live here, too, and would love to call you neighbors.
