The grand total for labor and delivery in the US ⤵️

$24,905 🤯

Thankfully, insurance will cover most of this, and I will end up paying about $2,950 and then I’ll reach my out-of-pocket maximum.

❌ Don’t even get me started on how one Ibuprofen is $3.25 (I could go to target and buy 60 Ibuprofen for $8)

❌ Or how I was only in the labor and delivery room for 8 minutes and I got charged $12,689 for the “doctor’s time,” as well as a facility fee of $5,330.60 for delivering my baby there.

❌ Or how the room and board fee for staying one night in the hospital is $6,052

TBH, this mistake is wild to me. 🤯

Yes, professionals can make mistakes. But this one feels pretty negligent. And now this couple is dealing with hours of cleanup and thousands in penalties because of it.

This is one of the biggest reasons I care so much about teaching people how to invest. You do not need to know everything. But knowing enough to ask good questions and catch red flags early can save you a lot of time, stress, and money.

You worked hard for your money. Let’s make sure costly mistakes don’t eat away at it.

✅ Comment “5 MISTAKES” and I’ll send you my free guide with the most common investing mistakes I see beginners make.

My experience:

I applied for a Trump account for my daughter who was born last month. I mostly did this to be able to take advantage of the $1,000 government deposit, as well as to better understand the process so that I can better speak to the pros and cons. It took less than one minute to apply. For a government website, it was SURPRISINGLY user-friendly. But that’s all we really know right now! I can’t access the account, contribute to it, or take any other action until they reach out to me at some point before July 4, 2026.

In this month’s newsletter, I’ll break down how this account compares to the other popular investing accounts for kids (e.g. 529 accounts, UGMA accounts), and fill you in on how I plan to invest for my own kids.

✅Comment: “KIDS” to sign up for the newsletter (it’s free)!

Our baby ✨girl✨ arrived fast and furious only 8 minutes after arriving at the hospital 😱💖 But we’re all doing great!

We’re so thankful for our village. My parents helping with our two toddlers. My mom taking a night shift so I could get some sleep. Friends bringing meals by. My in-laws coming in a few days. It’s not lost on us how lucky we are.

Since this is baby #3, I have perspective of just how fast the time goes, and how it does, indeed, get easier.

There is nothing more valuable than these sweet moments. Soaking in this newborn bubble ✨💖

And yes, we did Jimmy John’s as my first meal post-baby 🙃

Talk soon xo,
Hannah

P.S. can’t wait to get the hospital bill in the mail which I’m sure will be riddled with errors (as it was for my first two).😵‍💫 I’ll take you along for the ride of getting them corrected ✅

Last slide has important recap 🫶

This time around, I’m not packing any “postpartum recovery” items, because they take up a lot of space, and I’ve found that the hospital has PLENTY to get you through those first 24-48 hours at the hospital. I’m saving my nicer pads, creams, witch hazel, ointments, etc for the weeks when I get home. Saves money too 💰👏

Pro-tip: nurses will let you fill a bag of hospital supplies to bring HOME with you. Take them up on it because you’re absolutely paying for those supplies through the huge medical bill that comes with labor and delivery.

A few other things I didn’t photograph, but I will be bringing are my phone, long phone charger, and my wallet. The obvious things 🙃

So tell me, I’m 39 weeks pregnant today, do you think I’m having a boy or a girl?! I still have no idea. 💙💖

THINGS WE DO ⬇️

✅ Follow and comment “SUNDAY SYNC” and I’ll send you a link to the resources we use to do our Sunday Sync every week!

💰 First, we talk through our finances! We personally use the Cash Dash, because we want to make sure our spending keeps us on track with our goals, but we don’t love having to track every penny like a traditional budget does.

The Cash Dash gives us peace of mind knowing:
✅what bills are coming up,
✅what debts need to be paid,
✅what’s the status of our emergency fund
✅and the most fun part, that we are on track with all of our goals (eg. vacations, medical bills, car purchase, investments etc)

Once we know that all of the important things above are being covered, the money leftover is “free to spend” however we want! Because we don’t really care if we spend $25 on lunch or $60 on a new shirt, if we know we’re on track with our goals 💯

🥗 I’ve been building up a long list of our family’s favorite recipes (I store them in the Paprika app for easy access), so that I don’t have to spend a bunch of mental energy on choosing what’s for dinner each week. I also love to choose 1-2 new recipes each week from some of our favorite cookbooks!

📆We then talk through our shared Google calendar; we talk through the activities we have this week, who’s doing daycare dropoff/pickup each day, and we discuss if we have any extra busy days where we may need to lean on the other for extra support.

Cheers to family success in 2026 🫶

The better deal wasn’t the better car for us ⬇️👀

If you’ve been following along in Stories, you already know this wasn’t a quick decision. After 4 months of research, test drives, negotiating with multiple dealers, and running the numbers, we finally bought our 3-row SUV: a 2027 Kia Telluride SX X-Line (in jade green 💚).

The “most financially optimal” choice wasn’t the best choice for our life.

On paper, the 2025 had the better incentives and pricing. But when we looked at the day-to-day reality of fitting 3 car seats, the car seat setup mattered way more than I expected (anchors/tethers placement + third-row access).

So we made the trade-off intentionally:
✅ better functionality for this season of life
✅ still aligned with our bigger money goals
✅ negotiated the out-the-door price before stepping foot in the dealership
✅ held firm when the financing office was pushing hard for us to purchase extended warranties (negotiation isn’t glamorous… sometimes it’s just calmly repeating “no” 😅)

And the reason we felt confident making the purchase was because we practice what we preach and we used our money tools:

1️⃣ The Cash Dash to see what different price points would do to our monthly budget and savings goals

2️⃣ The Nail Your Negotiation course to keep leverage + boundaries during the buying process

If you want the links to both, comment TELLY and I’ll send them your way. 🚙✨

If you’ve been on this journey with us, watching on stories, giving your input, THANK YOU! It’s truly been so fun and helpful to hear your perspectives.

Still have questions about the Telluride? Let me know!

P.S. shout out to - I think I watched every single one of her YouTube car reviews when narrowing down our search 😅

Swimming is a life saving skill, especially around here where we have thousands of lakes, so it’s a non-negotiable for our family.

But I still had sticker shock! 😱

💬 parents, any other tips for reducing the cost? What do you pay for your area?

Ours are over $300 per child, for 10 sessions.
