A Tapestry of Belonging

Every Thread, A Brushstroke

Imagine humanity as a living canvas, where every person is brushed into the composition with a distinct color, tension, and texture. A single thread may seem delicate on its own, but layered with others, it becomes part of a richer surface: a handmade work of belonging, stitched together with care.

Contrast Creates Depth

Like oil paint built in luminous layers, a tapestry gains its power from difference. Warm and cool tones, rough and smooth marks, light and shadow ~ each one gives the others meaning. Our differences do not blur the picture; they add texture, movement, and emotional depth to the whole.

To embrace diversity is to keep painting with open hands, allowing watercolor washes and acrylic strokes to meet without fear. The Table Has Room for Everyone

There is a table. It has been set for a feast, and there is always room for one more chair. At this table, everyone brings something different. One person brings bread from a recipe passed down through ten generations. Another brings spices that carry the scent of a faraway place. Someone brings music. Someone else brings silence, the kind that holds the group together between the songs.

The feast is not diminished by the variety. It is defined by it. A table with only one dish, however expertly prepared, is a limited table. A table overflowing with the offerings of many hands, many hearts, many traditions ~ that is a celebration. That is abundance.

Diversity is not about tolerating what is different. Tolerance implies endurance, a gritting of teeth. What we are called to is something far more joyful: genuine delight in what makes each person unique. It is pulling up a chair for someone you have never met and saying, with real warmth, tell me what you've brought. Tell me your story. I want to taste it.

The puzzle is complete. The tapestry is woven. The symphony is playing. The garden is blooming. The stars are shining. The rivers are flowing. The doors are open. The table is full. We are whole because we are together.
