Soybean oil isn't just for cooking—it makes crayons more vibrant, creates that perfect smooth glide across paper, and keeps those colorful creations from flaking away.

Next time your little artist reaches for their crayon box, you'll know there's a bit of agriculture inside!

USDA has launched a national campaign promoting the updated “Product of USA” label, which can now only be used on meat from animals born, raised, harvested and processed in the United States. The change helps ensure fairness for domestic farmers and gives consumers clearer information at the grocery store.

Here in Virginia, the Virginia Verified Beef program launched in 2025 does the same at the state level by certifying meat that is fully born, raised and processed within the commonwealth. The goal: support local livestock farmers, bolster our in state supply chain and increase truth in labeling.

Clear labeling helps ensure the value of Virginia-raised livestock isn’t overshadowed by imported products. When consumers choose local, they directly support the farm families in their communities.

Both the federal and Virginia programs work together to boost transparency, strengthen rural economies and empower consumers to choose truly local meat.
