The Budget Group under today’s management began as Budget Brokerage, when in 1982, it was purchased as an existing insurance brokerage by G. Thomas Cestaro, an attorney on Long Island, New York. The business almost exclusively sold “Assigned Risk” New York State coverage, designed to insure drivers of higher risk due to accident and/or traffic tickets resulting in “points” on driver’s licenses.

Gradually over time, the business evolved to include more insurance markets which would serve all drivers, regardless of driving record. We also added a Commercial insurance component, both for commercial vehicles and businesses themselves.
