In short, if you're 55+ this may be an alternative to a traditional Reverse Mortgage. It's a hybrid to a Home Equity Loan in that you don't need to make payments until the property is sold or inherited by heirs. Importantly, your existing mortgage remains in the first position--you can retain your 2-3% rate that you received several years ago!

Yowza!

This could result in .75% rates drops in the coming year. We finally have a little visibility into where rates may settle...roughly in the low 6's.

The Federal Reserve left interest rates unchanged on Wednesday and U.S. central bank chief Jerome Powell said the historic tightening of monetary policy is likely over, with a discussion of cuts in borrowing costs coming "into view."

Loan limits have increased for California. Translation: A loan that was over $726K (in Solano County) would have been considered a Jumbo loan (higher interest rate) last year. In 2024 is up to $766,550 for Solano County.
