We’ve got something pretty special happening next week! ⛳

Reliable Payments has been a Founding Partner of Connect Local since it began five years ago, and we’ve loved watching this community grow into what it is today. Great people, easy conversations, new connections, and plenty of familiar faces. It’s networking, just without the awkward networking feel.

Pocahontas State Park for the incredible mountain biking trails!

What are you passionate about outside of work?
Showing and competing with my two Australian Shepherds, Odin and Loki!

What surprises people about payment processing?
How many options are available and how powerful the tools can be. It's so much more than a terminal, with invoices, payment links, QuickBooks integrations, automation, and more.

What's the key to lasting business relationships?
Being available and responsive, especially when an issue comes up. Communicating clearly and following through go a long way toward building trust.

What really captures Team Reliable?
Putting our heads together and using everyone's knowledge and experience to find the best solution for a client.

What do you enjoy most about your role?
Being part of a team that genuinely strives to do what's best for our clients and makes sure they feel supported.

The SpeakUp Race Team will each need to do that 17 times over 36 hours to complete the 29029 Challenge.

You can't make the challenge easier. You can only condition yourself to handle more of it.

That's true on the mountain, at work, and in life. Resilience is built through repetition, consistency, and continuing to show up.

And every lap brings the team closer to the bigger purpose: honoring Cameron's legacy and supporting teen mental health through the Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation.

Meet Team Reliable, Monday edition! Wake up! We've got someone you need to meet.

Next up is Joe Probst, our Client Engagement Specialist, who is coming up on two years with Reliable this October. Joe brings a very particular set of skills to Team Reliable: taking exceptional care of our clients, knowing more about AI than the rest of us combined, and maintaining what may objectively be the best head of hair in the building.

What's always on your playlist lately?
Extreme Metal. Whoever says that music peaked in the decade of their choosing is not a fan of the genre.

A friend is visiting Richmond for the first time. Where's the first place you're taking them?
We're going to Pony Pasture, baby!

What's something you're passionate about outside of work?
Wrestling with the human experience. I enjoy reading about the intersections of consciousness, physics, biology, mysticism, and what it means to be human. Heavy stuff, but not something I can assign basis points to. I plainly admit to being deeply neurotic.

What's one thing people are often surprised to learn about payment processing?
In an ocean of bad actors, there are still those searching the seas with lifesavers.

What's the key to building lasting business relationships?
Communication. Early, often, and patient.

What's a moment that really captures what Team Reliable is all about?
Very recently, doing the Hokey Pokey at Ashland Skateland during a company outing. We were surrounded by small children, and I was left with the distinct impression that although incredibly silly, nobody here has a poor connection with their true selves. Nor are we afraid of judgment against it.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Reliable?
I am trusted and valued. What more can someone want?

Not every part of the climb happens on the mountain.

As PJ continues training for the 29029 Challenge, each hike is about more than building endurance. It's about spending time with good friends, gaining perspective, and staying focused on the mission behind every step.

This weekend's training took him to The Priest, one of Virginia's most challenging hikes. Nearly 10 miles with more than 3,000 feet of elevation gain, it's the kind of trail that pushes you physically and rewards you with incredible views. (If you're an outdoor enthusiast, it's well worth adding to your list.) This weekend's trek also reminded him that every trail comes with a few surprises. Thankfully, this rattlesnake chose to mind its own business!

The road to Stratton will have plenty of challenges, but the purpose remains the same: honoring Cameron's legacy and helping the Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation continue its important work supporting teen mental health.
