As part of our ongoing commitment to the Richmond community, Capital Square was proud to sponsor Ronald McDonald House Richmond's sold-out 20th Red Shoe Rendezvous.

The organization’s largest annual fundraising event brought together sponsors, community leaders and supporters to raise a record-breaking $616,000 for programs that help families stay together and close to their children during a medical crisis.

Our support helps fund Ronald McDonald House Richmond’s annual operating budget, so families have a welcoming home away from home while their children get medical care.

Diaper need is one of the quietest struggles families in our region face, and one of the most solvable.

For a parent, it can mean counting diapers at night and hoping the pack lasts until payday. And when a family can't send enough diapers to daycare, the daycare can't take the child. When the daycare can't take the child, a parent misses work. Nationally, a quarter of parents facing diaper need reported missing an average of five days of work or school in a single month.

A diaper is small. The ripple effect is not. Every $20 gives 110 diapers to families in Central Virginia through Little Hands Virginia. That means comfort for a baby and peace of mind for a parent.

Today we're kicking off the Capital Square Cares 2026 Virtual Diaper Drive, joining Little Hands Virginia's Big Diaper Drive to help end diaper need in Central Virginia.

What surprises most people: no federal safety-net program sets aside money for diapers. WIC and SNAP can't be used to buy them and a newborn can go through 10 or more a day.

The drive runs through October 16, and your gift goes further than you'd think. Little Hands Virginia buys through wholesalers, allowing a $20 donation to provide 110 diapers to families in need.
