How to Build Connections in 2021
It is the eve of Christmas Eve. This time of year is undoubtedly nostalgic. Starting around Thanksgiving, we count our blessings and begin to reflect on the past year. I have been thinking about all of the people God has brought into my life, directly and indirectly— not to mention in the middle of a pandemic that brought the word ‘social distancing’ into the mainstream. As I think about it, this is the perfect time of year to talk about one of my favorite Laws of Wealth— the Law of Connection. It’s all about how God shows us how to build connections with one another to help us build His Kingdom on earth.
If God Were a Businessperson

God created every person with specific talents, desires, and gifts. He knows how to build connections that are most advantageous to His children and to Kingdom-building. When we commit in our hearts to partner with God, He has a plan. Think of the best businessperson or leader you know. They are well aware of the talents of the people they lead and the purpose they are seeking to achieve. Then, using that knowledge, they implement a strategy that will best employ their people and most efficiently reach their goal.

If God is perfect and has His eyes on the whole globe, how much more all-encompassing is His plan for the people He wants to bring into our lives? No matter what profession you’re in or where you live, we are all subsets of the larger ‘business’ of bringing God’s Kingdom to earth.

Father Gifts 13-Year-Old Daughter a Home to Teach Her How to Build Wealth
he parents of today know that their daughters would be excited to get luxurious jewelry, a smart-phone, or some sort of technology on their 13th birthday. However, that’s not the case for Avee Shabazz of Birmingham, Alabama, who thought his daughter should get a gift that would last much longer.

Instead of getting her some expensive jewelry, he bought the little girl a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home to help establish her financial future.

“The door is already unlocked,” Shabazz said as he handed Ajala the key to the home.

“I don’t know too many people who had their dad, like, give them a house,” said Ajala Shabazz who turned 13 on July 4, 2020.

So what did Shabazz have in mind when choosing such a lucrative gift for her 13-year-old daughter?

Shabazz said he bought Ajala a house to help build generational wealth. It’s a way of helping the little girl start to create her own financial freedom.

“Let’s prepare them early,” he said. “Let’s put them in a position early at 13, gift her with a house at 13, teach her how to use that house to build more houses.”

At age 2, my son has more money in the bank than I did at 18, and it's part of my plan to build generational wealth
One of my proudest financial moments was the day I reached $2,000 in savings at age 18. More than a decade later, my two-year-old son has not only passed that number already, but he is also on pace to have close to $150,000 when he turns 18 — 75 times the amount I had.

This isn't because I inherited a fortune or sold a business for thousands of dollars. This is an example of simply investing in the stock market early and holding for the long-term.

Growing up, my view of creating generational wealth was narrow. My parents didn't have a financial planner and neither owned stocks. The extent of my financial knowledge up until this point didn't go beyond checking and savings accounts.
