Two damaged cars. Two completely different types of coverage.
You back into a pole while parking. That’s typically a collision claim.
A tree branch falls and damages your parked car. That falls under comprehensive coverage.
Here’s the simple difference:
Collision coverage may help repair or replace your vehicle after it hits another vehicle or object or overturns.
Comprehensive coverage may help with covered damage that doesn’t result from a collision, such as theft, vandalism, fire, hail, falling objects or contact with an animal.
Neither coverage is the same as liability insurance, which generally addresses injury or property damage you cause to others.
Your protection still depends on your policy terms, limits, deductible and the circumstances of the loss. If your vehicle is financed or leased, your lender may also require both coverages.
Do you know which of these coverages your current auto policy includes?
Let MIM Insurance Solutions help you review your policy and explore available options.
