The mythical 2.9% Fixed Rate! After 6 years at sea, I'm starting to think I may have taken this a bit too far 😂

Don't spend years waiting for the perfect interest rate, when the right opportunity may already be right in front of you.

A few years ago in Santorini, I asked Corine Farhat de Rivera ☾🧿 to marry me. What nobody knows is that this proposal had more plot twists than a Hollywood movie!

Plan A was an art gallery with a custom painting. Then war broke out, so that plan disappeared overnight.

Plan B was spectacularly bad. Imagine romantic Kenny G… played through a speaker that sounded like it had survived 3 world wars. The “1,000€ professional photographer” turned out to be a sloppy teenager with an iPhone. The venue was nowhere near the famous Santorini sunset. It was empty. Corine's dreams of watching the perfect sunset evaporated behind my blunder of bringing her there.

She was upset. “Can we PLEASE go to the real sunset now?”

Little did she know, she’d just unknowingly canceled her own proposal.

So we left.

Plan C was completely improvised. The next day we squeezed our way to the very tip of Santorini with about 600 people waiting for one of the world’s most famous sunsets. I had no photographer. No music. No setup. No backup plan. Just a ring in my pocket and a dangerously high level of confidence.

The funny part?

I’ve spoken in front of hundreds of people without the slightest bit of fear. Like a complete genius I decided it would be a fantastic idea to binge watch failed marriage proposals online. They were BRUTAL. Rings dropped into lakes. People getting rejected. Awkward silence. Public humiliation. Guys hearts breaking on camera. My confidence was evaporating by the minute.

Then sunset arrived. I took one deep breath and yelled: "MAY I HAVE EVERYONE’S ATTENTION, PLEASE!”

About 600 people turned around in unison. I froze. Corine looked at me with complete confusion.

For the first time in my life, a horrifying feeling entered my head… Panic!

“What if she says no? If that happened I’d probably be trending on FailedProposals.com before dinner!

My carefully prepared speech instantly vanished.

Every word... Gone. I went blank...

So I did the only thing I could do. I spoke from the heart. She said yes. ❤️

The crowd exploded cheering. Every girl rushed over to Corine to congratulate her. Every guy wanted to toss me off that cliff. 😂

Be honest... how many numbers can you see? 👀

I've worked with plenty of buyers who've spent years waiting for "the perfect interest rate." The problem is that while they've been waiting, home prices never got the memo and kept increasing. Why? Strong demand, it's a fantastic hedge against inflation and proven to be a solid investment.

The right time to buy isn't when rates are perfect. It's when you're financially ready, the payment makes sense, and the right home comes along.

So let's be honest... how many numbers do you see?

A few more thoughts as the dust settles on my MBA graduation from Questrom School of Business at Boston University 🎓

Professor Jay Zagorsky’s “Always give a range!” lecture wasn’t just a classroom joke; it’s now a core principle we all carry forward. Whether forecasting, negotiating, building, or setting expectations, a thoughtful range beats a single number every time.

The past 2 years delivered far more than strategy and analytics. They built resilience, teamwork under pressure, collaboration, Miro boards (lol), and the power of a strong network. Grateful for every late-night study session, Capstone grind, early-morning project, and yes… every Questrom bakery cookie earned along the way 🍪
