Last Friday, Studio89 had its first screening for a short film that moved the audience to tears and joy. The film, Sense of Emergency is the embodiment of everything our organization stands for: Love and Hope.

And...(!!!) The film has just been selected for the 2025 HollyShorts Film Festival !

Look who won the bid for the new Overlook Walk cafe!!! Who better to be in this space than Boon Boona Coffee ?? When you mix THE best coffee and community it equals the best spot in the city! Not to mention the stunning views!

For the past year, we've been working diligently - Today, I am excited to share that Boon Boona Coffee has won the bid for the Overlook Walk Cafe!

Overlook Walk is more than just a new public space—it’s a reimagined connection between Downtown Seattle and the Waterfront, built where the Viaduct once stood. A place where people can stroll through, and gather, all while taking in one of the best views in the city.

This wouldn't have been possible without the dedication and vision of .goldstein, Anne Katahira, .hatfield , of TGA, Harriet and Doug Baldwin Jr of - and the entire Boon Boona Team! Grateful!

We're officially 3 weeks into cohort #2 of the INVEST program! This dedicated group is already hard at work, learning the essentials of entrepreneurship—from refining their ideas and market strategies to understanding financial and legal frameworks. Each week brings them closer to building sustainable, impactful businesses.

Some participants in this cohort are working on ventures such as:
• Culturally Diverse Food Trucks
• A mobile barbershop
• Car detailing services
• Reentry support services, including one soon-to-be nonprofit focused on breaking the cycles of oppression, incarceration, and economic disenfranchisement

We are happy to announce the completion and graduation of the first cohort of the INVEST Program! Over the past 8 weeks, participants have developed essential skills, gained knowledge, and received mentorship to move closer to their entrepreneurial goals. We couldn’t be more proud of their hard work, determination, and growth.

"I am so happy about this class because I am finding a new version of myself." -Cohort #1 participant

We are officially two weeks into our Reentry Entrepreneurship Program, in partnership with Pioneer Human Services. This 8-week course begins with a grounding in the reality of an entrepreneurial journey. We explore the foundations of entrepreneurship ranging from ideation and market research to financial planning and legal considerations, and then hone in on sustainable business operations and management. The program includes post-graduation support to ensure sustained success and culminates in participants sharing their business concepts with like-minded partners and investors.

We are grateful to our participants and to be working in partnership with Pioneer Human Services in service of the community. And this is just the beginning...

With seven seasons leading the Seattle Seahawks' Production and Entertainment teams, Maddie brings a wealth of experience in directing, writing, and producing. Celebrated with 4 NW Emmys and recognized at 18+ film festivals globally, her passion for storytelling and creating meaningful connections is evident in all her work. Maddie believes in building trust and capturing genuine emotion, which has been the cornerstone of her impactful storytelling.

Maddie will be leading and running an exciting new venture for Vault89 — more details coming soon!

We are grateful to be serving alongside Safeway and Feeding Feasible Feasts through the Seattle Public Utilities' food rescue grant! Our project aims to tackle food waste and improve equitable access by addressing inefficiencies in the current food redistribution system. By streamlining the process and expanding access, we hope to ensure surplus food reaches those who need it most.

🌟 Exciting news! 🌟 Seattle is awarding $200,000 to three local businesses and organizations to improve food distribution to people in need - while reducing our carbon footprint.

Congrats to Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, Vault89 Strategies, and Cascade Bicycle Club! Seattle Public Utilities' inaugural food rescue grant supports innovative solutions that will test methods for redistributing unsold food from grocery stores, hospitals, and farmers markets.

Partnership Between Vault89 Ventures and Pioneer Human Services Paves Path to Success

We are thrilled to announce that Back To Action received the 2024 Community Outreach Award - Large Market at the 61st Annual Northwest Emmy Awards! A huge thank you to our incredible project partners: KING 5, Washington Food Coalition, Seattle Seahawks, Northwest Harvest, and Safeway.

Back To Action addressed the need for volunteers in WA food banks, which saw a significant decline following the pandemic, while the demand for food assistance continually increased. This initiative provided support for food banks across Washington state by signing up 3,121 volunteers between September-December of 2023.

We deeply appreciate everyone who supported and volunteered in this effort.
