This client just purchased her first home at almost 60 years young. searched high and low…then high and low again…and high and low AGAIN to find the right home that our client and her grandson can call home in Bonney Lake. We strategized and won, overcame some obstacles along the way, and ultimately became part of changing someone’s life. That feels pretty special.

They’ve been smart with their finances for years and had saved a very healthy down payment 💰 - even met with a couple of lenders, yet no one had ever taken the time to explain the basic things every homebuyer deserves to know.

I believe in simple analogies, so here we go. I get asked all the time - “what’s the difference between an interest rate and the APR? Are they supposed to be the same?” I’ll get to the movie connection in a sec.

They won’t be the same! But the bigger the gap, the more you should wonder. You want to be armed with the knowledge of the difference before you talk to a lender.

🏠 Interest Rate = What you pay to borrow the money
🏠 APR = The total cost of the loan (including fees, points, etc.)

Think of it like this:
👉 Interest rate = the 🎥 ticket
👉 APR = full cost of the outing with 🍿 and 🥤

I guess some people will go to the movies and not buy any snacks, but let’s be real - you’re probably going to buy something! And it at least took you some gas to drive to the theater 🤣

When comparing lenders, look for TRANSPARENCY in communication about the impact of points and fees. No sneaky business!!

The news headlines cause fear, and so does everyone’s Uncle Barry who preaches about how we should be grateful because we weren’t buying houses in 1981 at 18% interest.

Let me tell you - this environment is rough. For buyers, potential sellers, and even those of us who work in the industry.
