I knew my first Honor Flight welcome home would be emotional. šŗšø
The very first veteran we saw was in a wheelchair. He rolled right up next to a woman holding flowers, and we were told they were husband and wife, both in their late 90s. She blew him a kiss, he reached for her hand, and that was it for me. š
There was just something so beautiful about seeing two people still so clearly in love after all those years.
I felt so happy for him that he was able to make the trip to Washington, D.C. and see the memorials honoring the service and sacrifice of his generation. I love that we do this for our veterans.
What also got me was seeing how many people showed up to welcome them home. The cheers, the flags, the gratitudeāit was really something special. Iām so glad Colton got to see that and experience what it looks like when a community comes together to honor those who served.
It was touching from start to finish. While it was my first Honor Flight welcome home, it definitely wonāt be my last.
Thank you to boys team charity for introducing us to this opportunity. Iām grateful we got to be a small part of such a meaningful day.
