Wildfire smoke can be especially difficult for children, older adults, pregnant people, outdoor workers, and anyone living with asthma, COPD, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions.

As smoke affects our area, a few simple steps can help protect your health:

- Check the Air Quality Index (AQI) before spending time outdoors.

- Keep windows and doors closed when air quality is poor; use your A/C on recirculate if possible.

- Limit strenuous outdoor activity, including exercise and yard work.

- Keep needed medications and inhalers accessible, and follow your care plan.

- Check in on loved ones and neighbors who may need extra support.

- Seek medical help for chest pain, severe trouble breathing, or worsening asthma symptoms.
