It’s been a hot minute — but we’re back with our very first COMMUNITY FIRST NEWSLETTER of 2026! Inside, you’ll find a fresh lineup of local happenings, bright spots, and a brand-new event that’s already brimming with heart. Dive in to catch up on what’s rolling out from our community-minded friends at Reynolds Ranch & Farm Supply — there’s a lot to LOVE. ❤

A LITTLE WHISKEY, A LOT OF HEART
If you’ve been around Red Bluff for any length of time, you’ve probably noticed something about Reynolds Ranch and Farm Supply. They don’t come out waving flags or shouting about all they do. Instead, they quietly keep pulling good ideas out of the cowboy hat — ideas that lift, support, and connect our little town in meaningful ways.

From stepping up behind the scenes to showing up more and more at community tables, Reynolds Ranch continues to lean wholeheartedly into Red Bluff. And while many of us look forward each year to their beloved Red Bluff Round-Up Mixer, they’re now saddling up something brand new — and it’s shaping up to be their latest and greatest gathering yet. Introducing Whiskey in the Warehouse.

Happening Saturday, February 28th, from 6 to 9 pm, this innovative event will take place right at Reynolds Ranch and Farm Supply, 501 Madison Street in Red Bluff. It’s a 21-and-over evening designed to bring people together for a night of whiskey cocktail tasting, music, and good old-fashioned community connection.

The idea behind Whiskey in the Warehouse was simple and heartfelt. At its core, it’s about connection. This driven business is creating opportunities for people to gather, share a laugh, and feel a little more rooted in the place they call home. For the team at Reynolds Ranch and Farm Supply, building community isn’t a side project — it’s part of who they are.

“This event is really about community,” said Melissa Rogers of Reynolds Ranch and Farm Supply. “We wanted to create something fun that brings people together while also giving back to the town that means so much to us.”

And that “giving back” piece is where this event really shines. After covering any event-related costs, the top two People’s Choice tasting winners will split the remaining proceeds and direct those funds toward a club or community project of their choice. It’s a way to turn great cocktails and friendly competition into meaningful support for multiple homegrown causes.

A growing lineup of local organizations and businesses is already forming, including Red Bluff Rotary with Applebee's, Corning Rotary, Red Bluff Kiwanis Club, Red Bluff 20-30 Club, Red Bluff Elks Lodge, Araceli Gutierrez with Oak Creek Ranch, Arrowsmith Honey, Lassen Transit, Rolling Hills, Green Barn Whiskey Kitchen, Sunset Bakery, Round Up Saloon, and Wilcox Oaks Golf Club. And the list keeps growing by the day — with plenty of room for a few more community-minded partners who want to saddle up and join the fun.

Ticket holders can expect an evening packed with great energy and even better company. Each guest will receive four tasting tickets to visit tables of their choice, with appetizers available along the way — and additional tasting tickets can be purchased for those looking to sample a little more. If you’re still feeling hungry or thirsty, Whiskey Kitchen will be on site with a food truck and cash bar. Add in live music by Band of Brothers, a mechanical bull, and a room full of familiar faces, and you’ve got all the ingredients for a seriously fun night.

For Reynolds Ranch, this first year is just the beginning. They’re excited to see Whiskey in the Warehouse take shape and are hopeful it becomes an annual tradition that brings people together while reinvesting meaningful dollars back into the community they love.

Tickets are $35 and can be purchased online now (HERE). In-person ticket sales will begin January 23rd at The Loft. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Once again, Reynolds Ranch and Farm Supply reminds us that community leadership doesn’t always come with a microphone. Sometimes it looks like opening your doors, trusting a new idea, and inviting your neighbors in for a good time — all for the greater good.

We’ll see you in the warehouse. 🥃

As we ease into November, we can't help but look back on a month packed with education, purpose, and impact. Empower Tehama continues to light up some of the causes that matter most. Keep reading for another COMMUNITY FIRST article highlighting the organization's powerful October showing. 💜

A Night That Went Beyond the Table
When an organization is built on love and resilience, it finds new ways to meet community needs—even when challenges grow. That’s precisely what Empower Tehama did this fall.

On Saturday, November 1st, the organization hosted That’s Amore!—an inspiring evening at the beautiful Heart S Ranch in Cottonwood that was packed with purpose and hope. The Italian-themed dinner and fundraiser featured live art by Carl Avery, music from Don Burton of K-Shasta, and plenty of community spirit—all emceed by the community-minded Joe Vine.

While the tickets sold out in a flash, the night’s true success went far beyond the table. The event reflected Empower Tehama’s ongoing commitment to stretching, adapting, and rising to meet critical needs for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking in Tehama County.

For Empower Tehama, fundraising isn’t just a line item—it’s a lifeline. Nearly 98% of the organization’s budget comes from local, state, and federal grants. But as federal funding for prevention programs continues to shrink and safe housing remains a persistent challenge, locally raised dollars have become the bridge that keeps vital services running. Critical initiatives like Camp HOPE Tehama, prevention outreach, and emergency response rely on flexible, community-based funding to fill the gaps and meet survivors where they are—when they need it most.

“Grants are wonderful, but they don’t cover everything,” said Jennifer Moniz, Empower Tehama Outreach Manager. “Local support gives us the ability to respond when someone is in crisis.”

And once again, the community showed up. That’s Amore! sold out almost immediately, proving how deeply residents care about keeping hope and healing within reach. Donations, in-kind gifts, and volunteer hours continue to play a crucial role in sustaining services—from staffing the 24-hour hotline to supporting outreach and prevention work.

“Volunteers are truly the heartbeat of what we do,” Moniz added. “Every single person who shows up plays a part in creating safety for survivors.”

The evening wouldn’t have been possible without strong community partnerships. Empower Tehama expressed deep gratitude to its Elite Sponsors—Sierra Pacific Foundation, Heart S Ranch, and Greenville Rancheria—along with Gold Sponsor Dignity Health St. Elizabeth Community Hospital, and Silver Sponsors Jemm Realty, Columbia Bank, Triad Water Solutions, and Tehama Democrats. Dozens of local businesses and individuals also stepped up, reflecting a shared and enduring commitment to safety and healing.

Saturday’s gathering was more than a fundraiser—it was a testament to what love in action looks like. Through events like That’s Amore!, Empower Tehama and its partners continue to sustain programs that save lives and uplift families. Whether by attending, donating, volunteering, or simply knowing where to direct someone in need, this community continues to strengthen the safety net for survivors.

“We couldn’t do this work without the people who continue to show up,” Moniz said. “This community is our strength.”

This powerful night was built on the momentum of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October. Empower Tehama’s 13th Annual Candlelight Walk expanded to Corning this year, shining a light on an issue that touches every corner of our community. SIP Coffee Bar joined the effort with its special Purple Thursday drink, The Elle, honoring Noelle “Elle” Wylie, whose life was tragically taken by domestic violence. A portion of the proceeds supported Empower Tehama, showing once again how local action creates lasting impact.

10/28/2025

October wraps us in fall’s golden colors—crisp mornings, turning leaves, and that gentle reminder the year’s winding down. But not before our little town packs in plenty of good stuff. The calendar’s buzzing with feel-good happenings, community wins, and chances to show up for one another. Case in point: the first of two stories this month proves how PASSION can make all the difference. 🍎🥗🍝

FEEDING FUTURES—ONE PLATE AT A TIME
If you’ve ever stood in the Red Bluff High quad during lunch, you know—it’s a well-oiled machine. Behind those bustling lines and trays of hot meals is a powerhouse crew that keeps our community’s young people fed, fueled, and ready to tackle the day.

Every single school day, the Red Bluff Joint Union High School District Nutrition Services team provides breakfast, lunch, and supper to students at both Red Bluff and Salisbury High Schools—upwards of 1,800 meals a day. Add in the 275–300 suppers they prepare for the SERRF after-school programs at Berrendos, Antelope, Los Molinos, Vina, and Ge**er Elementary Schools, and you’ve got one mighty operation humming from 6 am to 2:30 pm.

All of this is made possible through the National School Lunch Program and Child and Adult Care Feeding Program—ensuring that every single student has access to three well-balanced meals a day at no cost. It’s nourishment with purpose, built on precision, care, and a team that knows exactly what it takes to keep things running smoothly.

Out of that daily rhythm came something extraordinary. After the pandemic, Spartan Plaza Catering was born—an idea sparked by then-Director Marissa Stevens and now carried forward by Jaci Westbrook, RBHS Director of Nutrition Services. What started as a creative way to sustain staffing and grow the department has flourished into a full-service catering operation serving schools, businesses, and community groups across Tehama and Shasta Counties.

With six industrial ovens, temperature-controlled delivery, and a kitchen that can handle multiple orders at once, Spartan Plaza can bring the good stuff straight to your event. Their catering menu features favorites like yogurt parfaits and farmer’s breakfast skillets, fresh sandwiches and wraps, pasta dishes like chicken alfredo with garden salad, and beautifully built platters for any occasion. Whether you need boxed meals, buffet service, or a staffed event—they’ve got you covered, all at incredibly competitive pricing thanks to smart bulk buying and efficient menu design.

Here’s the best part: when you hire Spartan Plaza Catering, your dollars go right back into the program. Catering revenue helps maintain their delivery van, support staffing hours, and fund the creative side of their work. It’s what allows Catering Lead Tashia Nichols and team members Bertha Morales, Danielle Hart, and Nancy Jennings (who’s logged more than 25 years of service!) to keep innovating, keep cooking from scratch, and keep showing up for students every day.

This isn’t just about great food—it’s about community reinvestment. Spartan Plaza has operated without drawing on the district’s general fund, proving that smart, sustainable programming can fuel opportunity.

The heart of Spartan Plaza beats strong thanks to a crew of hard-working, big-hearted women—many of them parents of Spartans themselves. Their days run on a bell schedule, but they never lose sight of the joy in what they do: feeding kids, supporting schools, and serving the community with flavor and flair. From prepping scratch-made lasagna and Mandarin orange chicken to dreaming up new catering recipes, they bring passion to every shift.

“This team shows up every single day with grit, heart, and a good dose of laughter,” shared Westbrook. “They care deeply about our students and take pride in serving meals that are made with intention and a whole lot of love.”

And that’s what makes this story special. It isn’t just about meals served or events catered—it’s about a team that moves in sync, builds each other up, and pours heart into everything they create. Spartan Plaza isn’t just feeding students; they’re fueling futures, one tray, one platter, one perfectly packed lunch at a time.

Ready to Cater Your Next Event?
Spartan Plaza Catering is already the go-to for schools, trainings, business meetings, and volunteer events across the region—but they’d love to cater your next gathering, too.

If you don’t see exactly what you need, they’ll work with you to make it happen. So whether it’s a breakfast spread, a working lunch, or a full-on dinner buffet, give this well-oiled machine a whirl. As recent satisfied customers, trust us—your guests (and your budget) will thank you.

Happiest of BIRTHDAYS to our one and only FATIMA. For nearly SIX years, she has been an INVALUABLE part of our team, taking care of business like nobody's business. We were delighted to connect IN PERSON at a recent football match. It was a Saturday to remember. Enjoy YOUR DAY, Fatima. 🎂🩷🥳

FUN FACT: Fatima is our fab remote worker. She recently completed her university studies (in the legal field, no less) in England and resides overseas. We always make a point to see her when we hop across the pond!
