Can you say BRRRRRR?

Howdy, folks! We are in for a cold few days, to say the least. More than anything, we just want to wish you well - please take precaution and stay warm and inside if possible. The wind chills will be dangerously low, and frostbite can set in within 30 minutes.

These cold snaps can wreak havoc on your plumbing. As a preventative measure, you can leave faucets dripping and cabinet doors open to make sure the pipes do not freeze. Be familiar with the location of your main shut-off valve in case of any pipe bursting.

More than anything, stay safe and warm!

Es Viernes por el Pueblo! Also know as Friday's About Town! If there is spanish here, you know that Mexican food can't be far behind, and that is where El Maguey comes into the spotlight.

For as long as we can remember, this spot has been a favorite of the team here at the Overton agency. The chips are crunchy and salsa tasty, but careful - you have to make room for the main course. We had El Toriado, fajita quesadilla, and a chicken quesadilla on the menu and boy oh boy, it really hit the spot! Check them out off Raytown Rd and chime in below what your favorite dish is to order!

Can you smell...not what the Rock is cooking...but what Summit Pizza is cooking? That's right - we've got pizza on today's Friday's About Town!

I mean...can you go wrong with pizza? Not here - even if you have food restrictions, they have a Gluten-Free & vegan menu as well! We opted for a St. Louis style crust with half Hawaiian & half Buffalo Chicken. Did we eat too much? Possibly. Do we regret not getting more? Definitely. Give them a try in Lees Summit and shoot us your thoughts!

Is it ever a bad day for tacos? We don't think so. It's Fridays About Town, and we have the spot just for you!

Tarasco Mexican Restaurant; Raytown MO has all the Mexican fillings you need. We tried their sope and tostada, and of course - al pastor tacos! While it is a small place, you definitely taste the home-made difference from the big chains. Give them a try, and tell them we sent you!

Happy Friday, one and all! We hope you are staying warm ahead of the wintry weekend ahead. You know what makes those cold days better? That's right, a hot cup of coffee! That is why today's Fridays About Town comes to you from ReHope Market & Cafe .

ReHope is a small but delicious coffee house (literally) that has options for coffee, tea, and smoothies as well. More than that, they support survivors of human trafficking. We opted for a couple dark roasts and the Hopeful special - definitely hit the spot! Try them out, and know your cup of joe is supporting those in need.

It's the first Friday of 2022 & you know what that means...Friday's About Town is back!

If you've strolled through downtown Lee's Summit, you've likely gone by a social little spot on 3rd St, & you'll never guess where our eats are from today...ok you probably can - Street Social! If you're looking for a good spot, great ambience, and even better food then look no further. Between the Nashville Hot Wings, Social Cheeseburger, and Creamy Turkey Club, we really don't know what there is not to like! Give them a try and let us know your thoughts down below!

When you think Kansas City, you think BBQ. That's why today's Fridays About Town features a KC staple you all know and love - Jack Stack Barbecue

With it being our last Friday in the office for the year (we are closed Dec 24th and 31st), we felt it only right to close out this year with a local favorite. You don't need us to tell you how delicious the food at Jack Stack tastes - From their burnt ends to the Fire-Kissed wings, you really can't go wrong. We here decided to go the sandwich route and had a Poor Russ, Smokin' Russ, and Martin City Mayor - and just about needed a nap after finishing! The only thing missing was carrot cake, but that may have sent us into a food coma. Don't take our word - next time you're in, try it out!

That does it for this year's Friday's About Town series! We have thoroughly enjoyed bringing this to all of you, and hope it's invited you to continue supporting our local businesses as we continue marching on through the pandemic. It doesn't end here, though - we will continue spotlighting our local restaurants and cafes into 2022 and beyond! It's About Town Friday...meaning it is about time we had some Mexican on the menu!

Habaneros are known for being spicy, but this particular Habaneros Lees Summit Is known for being flat-out delicioso! We tried out the chicken quesadillas and chimichangas, and may we say they were quite savory. While we got it to-go, the dining area is neat and definitely makes for an inviting space to sit down and eat up. Stop on in, and tell them we sent you! You're sure to love this fix of mexican dishes.
