Buying your first home doesn’t have to feel scary when you have a game plan!
Here are a few things I ALWAYS tell my buyers:
1. Check your credit FIRST, before you start looking at houses. Your credit determines your buying power.
2. Don’t make big purchases, NO new cars. NO new furniture. NO new credit cards. What you buy can affect your loan approval.
3. Get pre-approved, not just pre-qualified
Pre-approval shows sellers you are serious & ready.
4. Start saving for closing costs, It’s not just the down payment. Plan for inspections, appraisal, and closing costs too.
5. Be honest about your budget. Buy what’s comfortable for your lifestyle, not what’s “max approved.”
6. Ask questions — ALL of them, there are no silly questions when you’re making the biggest purchase of your life.
7. Work with a Realtor who educates you. You will need guidance, protection, and someone who explains every step.
