Congratulations to Klaire Combest, this week’s RTHS Athlete of the Week! Coach Cole shared that Klaire committed to starting her high school cross country career strong by running 250 miles this summer. Her hard work and dedication has paid off so far this season! Klaire has finished in the top 25 in three straight invites. She has already improved her personal record multiple times this season and is primed to finish the next month even stronger! The future is bright for this fantastic freshman! Great job, Klaire!

Congratulations to Senior Oscar Varela-Echeverria, this week’s RTHS Athlete of the Week! Oscar has been on an incredible scoring run, recording 12 goals over the last two weeks, including 4 goals against IVC, 4 goals against Unity, and 3 goals against Fisher. His outstanding play and goal-scoring ability have helped lead the Eagles to the most wins in program history, making this a historic season for Rantoul soccer. Congratulations, Oscar, on an incredible stretch of performances and a well-deserved honor!

Congratulations to Senior Addyson Sherrick, this week’s RTHS Athlete of the Week! Coach Brenner shared that Addy has been a consistent leader on the court so far this season. Addy is a setter and has recently made the transition to running a 5-1 to help our offense become more consistent and prepared. Addy leads in assists, averaging over 11 assists per match, leads in aces with a total of 19 so far this season, and is second in digs behind our libero. Addy has filled a very important role on the varsity team this season and is doing a fantastic job so far this year. We cannot wait to see what else she accomplishes in the second half of the season. Great job, Addy!

Congratulations to Senior Iysean Autman, this week’s RTHS Athlete of the Week! Coach Beldo shared that Iysean had an outstanding performance against Monticello, making an impact in all three phases of the game. He had a 78-yard receiving touchdown, a 67-yard rushing touchdown, a 42-yard interception return for a touchdown, and an 84-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Great job, Iysean!

The 2026 school year is wrapping up & scholarship winners have been drawn from all of the amazing seniors @ RTHS who have earned Athlete of the Week this past school year. A big congratulations to BRANDON ALMANZA & AUBREYANA THOMPSON, our RTHS Athlete of the Week Scholarship winners!! They will each receive $1000 toward their freshman year.

Thank you to all the coaches & AD Chris Dryer for all the help this year & making this program happen.

A huge congratulations to all the RTHS seniors! Wishing you all the best of luck as you take the exciting step toward college!!

Congratulations to Bionca Walton, our RTHS Athlete of the Week! Coach Tori Schmid shared that during the team’s four-game winning streak, Bionca made a major impact both offensively and defensively. In 16 innings of work on the mound, she did not allow a run and gave up just six hits. Offensively, she came up big going 2-for-4 with an RBI in a 1-run win over SJO. Against Danville, she drove in three RBIs in a close 8–6 victory. Coach Schmid added that Bionca’s freshman season was cut short due to injury, but we’re glad to have her back and healthy. Good job, Bionca!

Congratulations to Levi Duitsman and Aiden Cheek, our RTHS Athletes of the Week!

Coach Kyle Lewis shared that both Levi (Jr.) and Aiden (Soph.) have led the way for the team during their 6–2 stretch over the past two weeks, making a major impact both offensively and on the mound. The duo has combined for a 4–0 record during this span without allowing a single earned run, and Coach Lewis noted their performances have nearly mirrored each other.

Pitching: 2–0 (2 starts), 0 ER, 14 K, 3 BB, .174 OBA
Offense: .370 BA, .485 OBP, 10 H, 4 RBI, 8 R, 8 SB

Aiden Cheek
Pitching: 2–0 (2 starts), 0 ER, 15 K, 3 BB, .111 OBA
Offense: .370 BA, .452 OBP, 10 H, 4 RBI, 5 R

Coach Lewis added that these two have provided the spark the team needed during a challenging stretch, helping lead the team to a 12–7 overall record and 3–2 in the Illini Prairie Conference. The coaching staff has been especially impressed with their determination and work ethic. Even beyond their success on the field, both Levi and Aiden continue to excel in the classroom.
