🌟 Team Member Spotlight 🌟
Meet Derek Kuhl! 👋
Derek is the leader of our team here at Diversified Insurance. He grew up in Randolph, spent about 10 years away for college and career opportunities, and then returned to his roots to raise his family in small-town Nebraska.
Derek is licensed in Nebraska, South Dakota, and Iowa, and specializes in Crop, Farm, and Commercial Insurance. 🌾🏠🚜
Ten years ago, Derek and his wife, Kalynda, purchased Diversified Insurance from Dan and Nikki Tunink, continuing a long-standing tradition of local service and integrity. It’s pretty special that Diversified Insurance has operated in the same building for over 45 years. Derek leads with passion, purpose, and heart. ❤️
When asked what he enjoys most about his career, Derek said there are a couple of things.
First, he loves helping our team step outside their comfort zones and realize what they are truly capable of. He believes anything is possible when you put your mind to it, and one of the most rewarding parts of his job is watching people grow, gain confidence, and accomplish things they once thought were out of reach. 🙌
Second, Derek said one of the most meaningful parts of his career is delivering claims checks. Like a lot of people, he grew up not exactly loving insurance. But what gets him to work every day is helping hardworking folks understand what they are buying, and when the unfortunate happens, being there to help guide them through the claims process.
Outside the office, Derek proudly serves on the Randolph Volunteer Fire Department, helps organize the Chrome & Smoke Truck Show in Osmond, and spends as much time as he can with his wife and four kids — Audra, Rett, Clay, and Lance. 👨👩👧👦
Fun fact: Derek and Kalynda recently hit a major milestone — Lance is officially potty trained! 🎉
That means for the last 9.5 years straight, they have been changing diapers. And because Derek is a numbers guy, we asked him about how many diapers they have gone through over the years. Of course, he had a pretty good idea.
