Medicare drug plans change every year, and those updates can impact what your medications cost and whether they’re still covered. A quick annual review can help you stay ahead of rising prescription prices and avoid surprises at the pharmacy.

A review of your prescription drug coverage can help you:
- Confirm your medications are still covered
- Look for restrictions like prior authorization or step therapy
- Explore lower-cost or generic options
- Prevent unexpected out-of-pocket expenses

If you have questions about how your medications interact, be sure to check with your pharmacist or prescribing physician.

With ongoing changes to Medicare plans and prescription drug coverage, an annual review is one of the simplest ways to protect your health and your budget.

If you'd like help reviewing your current Medicare drug plan, our team at Carolina Insurance Advisors is here to guide you. Give us a call to get started.

If you're turning 65 soon and trying to make sense of Medicare enrollment, you're not alone. Many people preparing for retirement have questions about when to sign up and what steps to take.

Here are a few reminders to help you stay organized:

• Know your enrollment window. Your Initial Enrollment Period lasts seven months: three months before your 65th birthday, your birthday month, and three months after. Enrolling earlier can help your coverage start right on time.

• Understand how enrollment works. Some people are automatically enrolled in Original Medicare, but others need to sign up themselves depending on whether they're already receiving Social Security benefits.

• Avoid delaying without a plan. Waiting too long without qualifying coverage can lead to late-enrollment penalties and delayed start dates.

• Explore your options. If you're still working and covered through an employer, you might qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. Just remember that missing all enrollment windows can limit your choices and increase costs.

Medicare decisions can feel overwhelming, but our team is here to guide you. If you're approaching 65 or simply reviewing your Medicare options, reach out to us anytime for support tailored to your needs.

August is National Eye Exam Month, a perfect reminder to schedule your annual eye exam if you haven’t already.

A comprehensive annual eye exam is covered by most vision plans, meaning you can obtain this key preventive care as easily as scheduling your appointment.

Additionally, these exams can do more for your health than just update your prescription. Your eyes can reveal early warning signs of serious health conditions that you might not know about otherwise, including:

👁️ Hypertension - Irregularities in the eye's blood vessels can signal high blood pressure before other symptoms appear.
👁️ High cholesterol - A yellowish tint or patch around the cornea or eyelid may indicate elevated cholesterol levels.
👁️ Autoimmune disorders - Inflammation in the eye can be an early sign of conditions like lupus.
👁️ Thyroid disease - Bulging or protruding eyes are often associated with thyroid-related conditions.
👁️ Cancer - Unusual structures within the eye can indicate ocular melanoma, and changes around the eyelids may reveal certain skin cancers.

If it has been more than a year since your last eye exam, let this month be your reminder to get it on the calendar.

Not sure what your vision benefits cover? Give our team a call. We are happy to help you take a look.
