Still working at 65? Here's what most people don't know about Medicare and employer coverage:
If your employer has fewer than 20 employees, Medicare is your PRIMARY insurance by law — even if you're still actively working. Your company plan becomes secondary, meaning it fills in gaps only after Medicare pays first. Not enrolling in Medicare in that situation could leave you underinsured without realizing it.

Larger companies work differently — Medicare is typically secondary — but that doesn't automatically mean staying on your employer plan is the better deal.Every situation is different, and the rules can be confusing. That's exactly what we are here for.

Medicare is one of the most important decisions you'll make as you approach retirement. And yet, most people sign up without fully understanding what they're choosing — or what they're giving up.

Here's the truth: not all Medicare plans are created equal.

The right Medicare plan depends on YOUR health needs, YOUR budget, and YOUR lifestyle — not on what's easiest to sell.

A few conversations could save you making a mistake and future frustration.

📋 MEDICARE ENROLLMENT: Know Your Deadlines

Missing a Medicare enrollment window can mean delayed coverage — or a penalty that follows you for life. Here's what you need to know:

🔹 Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) — A 7-month window surrounding your 65th birthday. Don't wait until the last minute.

🔹 General Enrollment Period (GEP) — January 1 – March 31 each year. Coverage begins July 1, and late enrollment penalties may apply.

🔹 Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) — October 15 – December 7. Your opportunity to review, switch, or update your Medicare Advantage or Part D plan.

🔹 Special Enrollment Period (SEP) — Triggered by qualifying life events such as losing employer coverage or relocating.

The right plan at the right time makes all the difference. Our team is here to help you navigate your options with confidence — no pressure, just clarity.
