Casey J. Hlubek - Northwestern Mutual Casey J. Hlubek, CLTC®, is a Northwestern Mutual financial representative who helps individuals and s I WILL. Those are the best words a client can say. I will.

I will start a business. I will live on my terms. I will retire. It’s a huge and exciting leap for anyone to make, and easier to do on the foundation of a solid financial plan. A plan built on four key philosophies (Pardon the upcoming references. We love sports.):

Teamwork

We work together. Your goals are our goals. If you are willing to confide in us and allow us to be candid with you, we can

accomplish those goals. Defense wins championships

Everyone loves to score points. A great defense makes a good offense that much more powerful. Your financial plan is the same way. You’ll see. Understanding the game plan

It’s imperative that we understand your goals and current situation and then help you understand what you have, how it works, and how it can be improved upon. Communication

Meeting regularly is a necessity. As your life changes, so do plans and we have to adjust accordingly.

Markets have been supported by resilient growth and enthusiasm around artificial intelligence, but the policy backdrop may be changing. Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Company Chief Investment Officer Brent Schutte explains why sticky inflation, higher debt costs and uncertainty around where AI-related gains ultimately land make diversification especially important. http://spr.ly/6181B1fv7b

As everyone shares their back-to-school photos this week, I'm reflecting on a milestone of our own.

Last week, we moved Avary into college.

It's hard to describe the mix of emotions that comes with this moment. Pride, excitement, gratitude, and a realization of just how quickly the years go by. Watching her take this next step toward independence and her future has been both rewarding and bittersweet.

I'm incredibly proud of the person she has become and excited to watch all the great things Avary will continue to do in this next chapter.

Wishing all students and families a wonderful start to the school year!

If you would've told 10-year-old me that some of the cards I enjoyed collecting would one day be worth thousands of dollars, I never would've believed it.

Back then, they were just cardboard.

Today, they remind me of a lesson I share with clients every day:

A clear direction changes everything.

Time rewards patience.

Value often comes from staying the course.

And the best outcomes usually begin with having a clear sense of direction.

As I walked the National, I couldn't help but think about how important those principles are, both in collecting and in life.

More to come soon. Excited to share with you all.

Most collectors have a story about a shoebox.

A box tucked away in a closet, basement, or attic filled with cards that didn't seem worth much at the time.

Years later, you pull it off the shelf and realize some of those cards became surprisingly valuable.

What changed?

Not the cards.

Time.

It's a good reminder that value isn't always obvious in the moment.

The same thing happens with financial planning. Small, consistent decisions made today may not feel significant next week, next month, or even next year. But over time, their impact can be remarkable.

Too often, people focus on what isn't happening right now and miss the progress that compounds quietly in the background.

The goal isn't to someday look back and wish you had started earlier.

The goal is to make decisions today that your future self will thank you for.

Sometimes the most valuable things are the ones we simply gave enough time to grow.

Some of my favorite memories as a kid were making trades and hoping to find that one special card.

Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to attend the National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago, and it was a reminder of just how much those experiences shaped me.

What fascinated me then was the thrill of finding something valuable. What fascinates me now is seeing how patience, time, and thoughtful decisions can create value over decades.

It's amazing how a childhood hobby can still teach lessons that apply today.

Any other collectors out there? What's the favorite card you've ever owned?
