Our Metro East Branch is hard at it again, helping out their community with their recent donation to the Glen-Ed Pantry. With help from the Edwardsville Lodge, they raised almost $500 for the Pantry and also donated 99 pounds of food and household items! Way to go!

The Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center is sponsoring its first ever bowling tournament on October 3rd to raise funds for the elevator fund.

Two bowling times are being offered: 3 pm and 6:30 pm for the 9 pin event. Five persons comprise a team and the cost is $125 which includes a t-shirt, shoes and three games per person. The event is open to persons of all ages.

Teams must sign up and return registration forms by September 10th to be guaranteed a t-shirt. Lane sponsorships are also available at a cost of $125. Sponsors will have their business logos electronically rotated throughout the event. A silent auction and cash raffles will also be held.

Businesses wanting to donate a prize for the auction should contact the Quincy Senior Center at 217-223-5700. Registration forms can be picked up at Tangerine Bowl or the Senior Center, or you can go to www.wcian.org.

Our Metro East branch recently presented a matching fund check to Caseyville Food Pantry, an organization that they have supported for a long time. Branch member Sandy Wessels presented the check to Pantry Director Rick Penny, along with several of their volunteers. The branch raised $360 in monetary donations including food and non-perishable household items which were donated to the food pantry. Way to go!

There are still a few tickets left - please help us support the Shrine for Father Tolton!

WCU's Quincy Branch is holding a raffle ticket fundraiser to support The Shrine for Father Augustine Tolton to be built in Quincy. Ticket Cost is $50. There will be one grand prize winner of $2,000 and 5 consolation prize winners of $100 each. The rest of the proceeds raised will be donated to the cause. ONLY 100 TICKETS WILL BE SOLD!

To purchase tickets, please stop by the WCU Office at 510 Maine St, Quincy IL 62301. CASH OR CHECK ONLY. Please make any checks payable to WCU Quincy Branch. Drawing will be held on September 4, 2026.

St. Joseph Parish in Westphalia, MO recently held their Annual Parish Picnic which featured a quilt raffle. Their Quilting Club invested over 2,000 hours making a total of 40 quilts to auction off. Their beautiful handmade quilts raised over $43,000 and earned them a matching fund from our Westphalia Branch. Each year I am amazed at how much this good old-fashioned tradition helps out their community. Great work, quilters!

Our Quincy Branch held their annual Swim Party last week at Sheridan Swim Club and had a great turnout! It was a perfect evening to cool off at the pool and enjoy some great company!

Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Washington, MO recently held a rummage sale, with funds to support upgrades to church and school security. Their hard working volunteers log in many, many hours for this annual event, and this year raised over $7,000! Pictured is WCU President, Sherri Schaefer, presenting a matching fund check to Fr. Truss, Roseanne Willenbrink and Jane Wuebbens from the church. Great job, ladies!

Our St. Louis District members recently participated in their local ALS Walk to Defeat ALS. Their team raised around $1,500 along with a matching fund. Overall, the St. Louis walk had a huge turnout with thousands of people attending, and over $400,000 raised! What a great way for the community to come together and help find a cure for ALS.

Our long time branch leaders of WCU's Apple Creek, MO Branch recently presented a check to the Ladies Organization of St. Joseph Church in Perryville. Their breakfast was a huge success and they earned a matching fund from their local branch! Great job to all!
