🌞 Thinking about installing solar panels, or already have them soaking up the sun? Here's a question we hear a lot: Are solar panels automatically covered by homeowners' insurance?
Short answer? Not always, and that's something worth understanding!
In many cases, permanently installed solar panels are generally considered part of your home and may be covered under your dwelling coverage. But, and this is important, coverage can vary depending on your specific insurance carrier, policy limits, and how the system was installed. Detached or leased solar systems often require additional coverage or endorsements to make sure you're fully protected.
The bottom line: don't assume everything is included. Solar is a great investment in your home, and so is taking 10 minutes to review your policy and confirm exactly how your solar system is protected against risks like storm damage, fire, or theft.
