Is the return of Jesus Christ truly imminent, or have we misunderstood the signs of the times? In this deep dive into the scriptures, we explore the tension between the certainty of the Second Advent and the perceived delay that has challenged the faith of many generations.
Tonight on the Weekend Exhale, Pastor Snell answers the burning question: Is Jesus soon to come? While many pastors and prophets have falsely predicted specific dates, the Bible provides a different perspective on how we should view the timing of the end. We examine the writings of Peter and Paul, who lived with the conviction that Christ would return in their day, and we look at the specific warnings Jesus gave in Matthew 24.
A major focus of this study is the interpretation of the parables in Matthew 25. Through the stories of the Ten Virgins and the Talents, we learn that a delay or tarrying time was actually expected. Jesus used these illustrations to teach us about spiritual stamina and faithfulness while the Master is away. We also discuss the metaphor of labor pains, how the frequency and intensity of global events signal that the delivery is near. Ultimately, we discover that the delay is a sign of God's incredible mercy, as He desires for the gospel to reach every nation and for all to come to repentance.
