Guatemala day 2
Vacation with a purpose at an Orphanage in Guatemala city this week.
This week we are playing with kids, serving in the community and doing work.
Day 1 arrived on red eye, slept, played with kids and got to know each other.
Today we went to church in shopping mall. It was remote venue of a multi sight church a lot like in the US.
Then soccer with the kids. Like Tijuana and all of central America, these kids can ball.
Ice cream stop after soccer then lunch. (as it should be)
Playing with kids all afternoon. Some things transcend language barriers.
Finished the day with an epic dinner at a nice steak house. I'm in Guatemala and they served Snake River Farms beef based out of Boise. Epic day.
Tomorrow: the city dump.

From the grape vineyards of Eastern Washington to the Caribbean, Embracing Orphans saw a need in the world and did not hesitate to fulfill it. Embracing Orphans believes they have been called to serve the orphaned, abused and neglected. They are fulfilling this calling by serving the people of Jamaica. Partnering with the local community to strengthen the effectiveness of their mission, Embracing Orphans has been able to show others and inspire them by removing boundaries to go anywhere the help is needed.

Good Deeds Mortgage has a heart for and loves to support ministries who care for the poor and vulnerable in our communities and all over the world. One of those ministries is Kids Alive International.

Kids Alive for over a 100 years has provided Christian care for orphans and at-risk children all over the world. They do this by providing schools, homes, clinics and whatever else a community needs to care for the kids in their neighborhoods. Their work extends into four world regions: Latin America, Middle East, Africa and Asia. Good Deeds Mortgage has specifically supported their work in the Dominican Republic at the Santo Domingo North ministry. Our loan officer, Ben Herr, and his family have been involved since the beginning of this ministry in 2014 with several visits and has developed close friendships with their amazing directors.

There are many ways that you can get involved through kid sponsorships, internships or work projects at the various ministries all over the world.

Just like 30 year mortgages, pets can be long term committees.

Whitman County Humane Society is one of the non-profit organizations that we’ve been able to help support in the past. We appreciate the help they have provided for the animals in the Whitman county community, and the hard work they put in with finding good homes for the pets that pass through their doors.

We also enjoy the pictures of the pets on their pages!

This Charity is about making sure hope is always on the menu. They have found that the top ten lowest-paid jobs in the country are in the hospitality industry, pushing many below the poverty line… Hospitality workers naturally are required to keep smiles on their faces, allowing many of their needs to go missed and unseen. And while their job is to serve and take care of others, Big Table's mission is to walk alongside those in the industry to help take care of them when they need it most.

We, at Good Deeds Mortgage, have been able to give to their Spokane Big Table location. We encourage people to check out how they strive to be more of a family rather than just a non-profit.

WE'RE DONATING THE GDM VAN: Since 2015 the GDM van has been available for non profits to use free of charge. It's gone from Tijuana, Mexico up to Malibu Club in Canada and everywhere in between. It's averaged about 10,000 miles a year of hauling youth and a few adults on life changing adventures. It's time now though to donate it to a new home.

If you know of a great charity that needs a well running van have them apply. We'll be giving it to a deserving charity this year.

It's a 2008 Chevrolet Express 3500 12 Pass with a monster 6.0 V8 and almost 200,000 fun filled miles. It's mechanically sound, everything works and runs like it's new.
