Will we see flooding this year?

2023 will be a record year for Utah’s snowpack. We are seeing the most snowpack ever in Utah this year. And the snow keeps on falling. This is certainly good for the drought conditions that have been a concern for years now. However, this record-breaking snow brings a new threat: Floods.

The last time we had a snowpack like this was in 1983 (and we’ve already surpassed the 1983 record which was set in mid-April). And what happened when temperatures rose?
- Salt Lake City’s Main Street turned into a river.
- The same thing happened to Provo’s 300 North Street.
- Homes near streams and runoffs and homes near lakes and reservoirs flooded.

Will it happen again this year?

Now is a good time to consider flood insurance.

Homeowners insurance does NOT cover floods. You need a separate policy.

A little bit about us!
This is Chris Burton and his beautiful family.
For the past two decades, Chris has been the president and principal agent at Blue Mountain Insurance. His most rewarding job, however, has been being a dad to six kids, including a singleton, triplets, and twins. Chris loves Provo, especially the mountains that surround his home, and when he’s not at the office, you can often find him hiking, skiing, or mountain biking with his wife and children. The thing Chris loves most, though, is family road trips. “From Yosemite to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, and from the Great Lakes down to Mexico, we live in such an amazing country,” says Chris, “and we’re doing our best to see all of it.” (You can almost hear his kids asking, “Are we there yet?”) Much to the delight of his children, Chris’ most recent adventure has been his investment into Crumbl Cookies as an owner of several franchises.
