*******SCAM ALERT********

Please be aware that there have been reports in and around Scott County of people receiving calls from someone claiming to be a Sheriff’s Deputy and/or Sergeant from our office. This person may be asking for money and/or gift cards to satisfy a warrant or civil matter.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is not making these calls and would never ask for financial information over the phone. Always remember that if you get a call like this and someone wants you to pay over the phone with pre-paid gift cards of any type, including Apple iTunes cards or Google Play cards, it is a SCAM!

DO NOT give money over the phone and DO NOT give your Social Security number to anyone over the phone so they can “verify” your warrant status.

Please help and get the word out to your friends, family, and neighbors who may not be aware of these types of scams so they don’t fall victim.

If you have a question about a Scott County warrant, you can call Scott County Jail Administration at 952-496-8314. You do not need to report additional calls if they are received - only if you are a victim of a scam.

The ice is not safe near Wagon Wheel Bridge right now. Please do not attempt to cross. We need some good cold nights for the open water to close up. Driving or skipping over only makes it worse. The snowmobile trail map shows how to travel between the lakes. To go between Upper and Lower Prior, use Sand Point, Cow Bay, Cty Rd 42, Cty Rd 17 (Marshall Rd) and Cty Rd 82 to get around. Do not cut over thru the park on the east side of bridge. You’ll be trespassing on private property.
