It looks like the threat for an ice storm is real. Here are a few tips.
1. Prepare, we are staging generators and stockpiling fuel for an extended power outage so we can still serve our customers and you should too.
2. Remove anything you can from underneath tree limbs. Park your car down the street if you have to. You will be thankful when you can drive it after the storm. Remove lawn furniture, grills, trampolines, tractors etc. Gravity is undefeated
3. Open your cabinets and leave faucets dripping especially if you lose power. Know where your water shut off valve is and check your crawl space to make sure your insulation isn't hanging down and for leaks.
4. No reason to lose food in the fridge or freezer during an event like this. Just put a cooler on the back porch or you can even use the trunk of your car. Mother Nature will keep it cold and fresh.
5. Get out important numbers such as your insurance agent. We can take claims directly and even write checks here at the office for small claims.
We hope that the ice stays away but as the old saying goes "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"
