One of the biggest misconceptions I run into is that life insurance only helps after someone passes away.

That's not always true.

**The coolest thing about being a life insurance broker...**
..is that I don't really sell life insurance.

I spend my days borrowing tomorrow's peace and delivering it into today.

That's a strange thing to do for a living.

People assume our work is about policies, premiums, underwriting, and paperwork.

Those are just the instruments.

The music is something else entirely.

It's the quiet confidence of a father who finally exhales because his family will be okay.

It's the relief in a daughter's voice when she realizes her parents have a plan.

It's watching uncertainty slowly surrender to preparation.

We're not in the business of predicting tragedy.

We're in the business of refusing to let tragedy have the final word.

As an independent broker, I get to stand in a rare place.

Not on the side of a single insurance company.

On the side of the family sitting across from me.

Sometimes the best recommendation is the least expensive one.

Sometimes it's telling someone they don't need what they thought they needed.

Sometimes the greatest act of service is simply telling the truth.

I think that's the coolest part.

Not because life insurance is fascinating.

But because every policy is really a love letter written in advance.

A promise that says,

*"Even if I'm not here... my care still will be."*

That's meaningful work.

And I can't think of many careers that get to translate love into something so practical.

To all of the State Farm agents being affected by these recent changes, my heart goes out to you. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to pour years of your life into serving clients, building relationships, growing a business, and then suddenly find yourself facing uncertainty.

Situations like this remind us why ownership and independence matter so much. There is something powerful about building a business that belongs to you, creating your own team and culture, and having more control over your future rather than having it determined by decisions made far above you.

One thing I’ve learned in this industry is that there are still companies and organizations that genuinely invest in their people, support their growth, and provide opportunities to build something lasting. If you’re feeling unsure about what’s next, know that there are other paths available that can offer flexibility, stability, and the ability to create a legacy for your family.
