Change Fatigue

A new report from The Grossman Group, conducted by The Harris Poll, shows that organizations have reached a “change tipping point,” with employees struggling to keep pace with constant transformation. The survey of more than 1,100 U.S. workers and business leaders found that employees can realistically manage only one to two major organizational changes per year – yet over half of business leaders expect three or more in the next two years.

Artificial intelligence (AI)-driven transformation is the No. 1 most frequent type of change, driving 1 in 3 strategic and process transformations. But 1 in 4 respondents cite AI as the most difficult type of change to implement. Meanwhile, 1 in 4 major change initiatives currently fail, with burnout, turnover, and dissatisfaction as common results.

Communication and leadership visibility are the biggest differentiators between success and failure. The study found that effective change communication triples the likelihood of success, while major initiatives are nearly 6 times more likely to fail without strong, visible leadership.

More than 4 in 5 parents say they would be likely to enroll their teen in a telematics program, according to Nationwide's "Driving Behaviors Survey." The No. 1 motivator is to improve their child's driving habits and safety.

Less than half (42%) of parents rate their teen's driving as good or excel- lent, but view technology like telematics programs as a potential training solution. Among specific behaviors, 42% are concerned about their teen engaging in distracted driving, and 36% are worried about their child speeding or driving recklessly.

The fears are well-founded, with many parents reporting that their teen exhibits unsafe behavior while driving. Nearly half (47%) say their child eats or drinks while driving, and a quarter (24%) say their teen puts on makeup or styles their hair while driving. An additional 23% say their child texts while driving.

A growing number of Americans are inputting sensitive health and financial data into artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots – often without a clear understanding of the risks. According to a new study by cybersecurity firm NymVPN, 30% of U.S. consumers have shared personal health details with AI tools while 26% have entered financial information, such as salaries, investments, or mortgage data into a tool.

However, consumers aren’t just risking their own information. Nearly 1 in 4 respondents (24%) reported sharing customer names and email with AI tools at work and 16% admitted to uploading company financial records and internal documents.

More cautious consumer segments do exist, with 43% worrying about data being leaked or stored. And a quarter of Americans say they don’t trust AI with personal or sensitive information despite the tool’s usefulness.

The increase will affect 1.5 million customers in Illinois, where State Farm is the largest home insurer. The company cites more extreme weather and rising repair costs due to inflation as reasons for the rate hike.

Home insurance premiums rose 20% in 2024 to a national average of $2,072, according to Rate Insurance's analysis of its book of business. The highest average premiums were seen in Colorado ($3,280), Texas ($3,115) and Oklahoma ($2,918). Those states are particularly vulnerable to severe weather events, such as hailstorms and tornadoes, the report pointed out.

Meanwhile, the largest increases occurred in Hawaii (35.92%), California (35.91%) and Idaho (33.32%). While increases in Hawaii and California can be attributed to natural disaster risks and the resulting reinsurance costs and limited carrier ability, Idaho’s jump has been caused by a large amount of population growth over the past decade.

The lowest homeowners premiums can be found in Washington, D.C. ($985), Vermont ($986) and Oregon ($1,123) with their more stable claims environments and lower catastrophe exposure.

Coverage is shifting as home valuations and the costs of materials and labor continue to rise. In 2024, deductibles under $1,000 account for just 4.95% of Rate Insurance’s book of business, representing a 56% year-over-year decrease.
