This is the main reason for me on this holiday. Thankful for my girls, my family near and far, my friends, and all the blessings in my life. Too often we take things for granted on a daily basis and fail to see the blessings in front of us. I hate to admit it but I do that as well.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day today, hopefully with family and friends, but if you cannot be with them, I hope you can see your blessings and be thankful for them.

Wow, I cannot believe it has been 7 years since we opened our agency October 1, 2016. A lot has transpired since then. We were met by Hurricane Matthew about a week after opening. We have partnered with Red Cross and installed smoke/fire alarms in the homes of our community. We have helped support children with cancer and their families by partnering with Roc Solid Foundation to pack ready bags for when families are admitted to the hospital, with Edmarc Children’s Hospice by sponsoring families’ at Christmas, and making & donating stuffed bears to our local children’s hospital for Christmas. We have sponsored and helped build bicycles for deserving children and sponsored little league sports to help make sure our children have a safe place to learn about teamwork. But most of all, we have continued our mission to help our customers protect what is important to them.

We have established relationships with our customers and experienced life highs and life lows together. We have had to say good bye to some while continuing to serve their surviving family. We have welcomed new customers to our family, either as a new customer or celebrating a birth or a wedding.

Although we have experienced a lot with our customers and our community, we stand ready to continue to experience a lot, be involved in the community, and continue to build those relationships. I want to thank each and every one of you for your support along this journey.

As we all wake up today, start our food prepping and cooking, gather around the tv for the parade, enjoy a hot cup of coffee and breakfast, or whatever your routine is, take a moment to “look around” and reflect on the blessings in front of you. It could be your partner/spouse, your children, extended family and friends, your fur babies, food on the table, a roof over your head, or the ability to be home with all of that.

Now remember that there will be those today and every day who have lost a partner/spouse, lost a child or can not have one, lost a family member or friend, lost a fur baby, barely have any food to begin with, are homeless, or have to work in order for us to be able to be home with all of that. There are those here in our hometown that will have an empty seat at their table today.

Please take time to say a prayer for them and those that are not as fortunate as others. I hope each and every one of you have a Happy Thanksgiving. ~ Terry Friar, Agent

On October 1, 2016, I opened my State Farm agency. The excitement of finally being the agent, running my own business, and most of all helping others was quickly put to the test as Hurricane Mathew stopped by during our first week open and said “Welcome to agency”. Fast forward to today. As we celebrate six years of serving our community, we are congratulated by Hurricane Mathew’s long lost cousin, remnants of Hurricane Ian. And nothing has changed. We are still excited about being able to help and serve our community. So here is to many, many more years helping others and protecting them against this unpredictable thing called life.

It was a fun night for all Saturday night at the 5th Annual Charity Gala “Run for the Roses”, raising funds to support the RiteCare Scottish Rite Childhood Language Program (SRCLP) who helps fund the Old Dominion University Speech and Hearing Clinic. Another charity event that Terry Friar State Farm was proud to sponsor and will continue to going forward. I’m thankful for the blessings and opportunities provided to me thru my business that allows me to share and give back to the community. Looking forward to next year’s gala.
