With everything else going on this year, it's hard to keep track of the news sometimes. Due to market volatility caused by COVID, mortgage rates have been low this year, causing many to refinance. Because of this, the Federal Housing Finance Agency, which controls Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be instituting a 0.5% fee on many types of refinances with Fannie and Freddie effective December 1st. From what I have heard, most lenders will start charging this fee on loans closing at the end of October or beginning of November. If you have been thinking of refinancing, now would be a good time to reach out to your lender to avoid this fee.

If you do not have a lender, or you would like a second opinion, please let me know as I am happy to help - but mostly want to make sure that if you are thinking of refinancing, you do not get caught by surprise by this fee!
