There are quite a few things that influence your health insurance premiums. Here are the three things that do:
1. Age: As we age, we are more prone to health issues. Studies have shown that older people can pay three times as much on premiums than younger people.
2. Smoking: If you smoke ci******es or ci**rs, your premiums are likely to go up.
3. Pre-existing medical conditions: These can influence the risk of medical issues, which can make your premiums higher.

Seasonal depression affects many people but tends to affect pilots the most in the winter months. It can mess with sleep patterns and overall mental health. Here are a few tips on how to deal with seasonal depression:
1. Get moving: Whether it be on your layovers or your day off, exercise! Run, walk, lift weights, do yoga, whatever gets your blood pumping more than usual.
2. Prioritize time with loved ones: Spend some quality time with your friends and family when you've got the time. Do something with them to boost those serotonin levels!
3. Get ahead of the game: If you know you experience seasonal depression in the winter months, prepare yourself in the fall. Plan some extra time with family, or set up an exercise schedule. Get yourself ready in advance to keep that smile on your face.

As a pilot, you know the phrase, "This is the best job in the worst industry." After things like 9/11, the pandemic, and the pilot shortage, you know there is no such thing as job security. We also know that if you don't fly free when you travel, you don't fly! Many pilots would consider themselves frugal, and that can be okay. Though, there is such a thing as being too cheap. That's where we come in! We can help you see where you're falling short and where you can save an extra dime or two.

Did you know that January is Financial Checklist Month? It's like a resolution list but one you'll stick to! Here are a few things we suggest to put on that list:
1. Set a new budget- If your goal is to save more this year, set a budget to keep yourself in line!
2. Review your estate plan or will- It's always a good idea to keep our estate plan and will up to date! Did you buy a new piece of property this past year? Put it in there!
3. Review Your Insurance Contributions- How much are you paying for your health, car, and home insurance? Review those numbers to make sure they make sense with your brand-new budget!

The best way to keep these things top-of-mind this month is to take a picture of the list and keep it as your phone lock screen photo. What will you be putting on your financial checklist? Let us know in the comments!

The holidays are prime time for travel, and with the shortage of pilots, we know it's been a stressful ride or several for that matter. So when the holidays are over, how do you unwind? Here are a couple of suggestions on how to recover:
1. Detach your mind from work- Set aside a certain amount of time each day to purposefully devote time to a non-work related activity. Do something you love!
2. Try a high-effort activity- It may seem counterintuitive, but science says high-effort activities actually help you recover from stressful times. These are things like going to the gym, doing team sports, learning a new language, or learning a new instrument.

Year-end checklists help us to learn from our past, pull a sense of gratitude into our present, and plan for our future success. Three areas of focus we'd like to share with you are:

Personal- What during 2022 made me fitter, smarter, and richer? Focus on what you want your personal development to look like in 2023.

People- Who are the five people in your life that would do anything for you and you for them? Who are the fifteen people you have a meaningful relationship with? Who are the fifty people in your life that bring value to your life? Identifying our friends and loved ones is a step that helps deepen our social skills and fight against loneliness.

Pocketbook- If you’re still in the accumulation phase of life, consider giving yourself a raise in 2023 by increasing your savings. Don’t stop with your retirement accounts; consider adding more to your reserves and debt repayment plans.
