Hi All, I've been developing a piece of land (for the first time) and I have worked with a few fantastic contractors that I'd recommend if you have need of their services. These people did what they said they would do (very important to me and as an Air Force veteran I love working with people/companies/businesses that have a sense of honor, and their word is their bond kind of thing. I look for that)
Duncan Gilbert, Red Line Tree Care( 207-701-1908) has done a bunch of chainsaw work for us. Took down trees big and small, cut them up into manageable pieces for burning or moving. Great prices, he's super professional, great work ethic, good communication. Did what he said. I plan to use him again. I believe he's a forest fire fighter, but not sure. I will look forward to the next job.
Matt Chittenden, Northern Excavation and Land Services (not to be confused with the home company) (207-337-3951). Matt cleared, graded, leveled and laid gravel, putting a driveway 350 feet into the property. He carefully listened and took down ONLY the trees we asked, leaving the ones we asked him to. I asked him not to have the stuff hauled out to save some money, so he very neatly stacked the felled trees in a tidy pile. He even offered to put some over on the neighbor's property for him (that the neighbor asked for---he's a woodworker). Matt is super professional, a great communicator, good prices, does great work, and I've already asked him when his next availability is for trenching for the power and water service. He understands all the aspects of developing, and he can dig foundations, and install septics! I look forward to working with him again.
Mike Cuomo, septic designer. 207-475-7093. Very professional as well, super responsive, did quick work, great price, very helpful. Had lots of recommendations to other great professionals, and I will use his services again if I can. Got the perk (perc?) test done quickly, and got the septic plan designed in a very timely way as well.
Ambit engineering did the survey work, marking the site. Nice plan. Timely, professional, really knew their stuff. 603-430-9282
New Hampshire Land Consultants 603-833-5913 did survey work for us on another property, and a wetlands study, and also did very nice work. The owner Scott spent I don't know how much time (but must have been hours) answering my many questions about development. Really helped me move forward. This all before I had given him any job yet. He's super knowledgeable, great company, and very kind to have answered my questions so generously.
Jack Spaulding is a fantastic General Contractor. (603-396-1473) He does skilled work himself, as well as managing a project well, and is just such a great guy. He really cares about the project. He's a veteran---ex marine, and has a great work ethic and quality of work as a carpenter too. He is currently managing a bathroom addition, floorplan change adding a hallway, laundry, several new closets, as well as making a beautiful arch in the living room to cover some new plumbing---really took some skill to create that arch. He knows all the tradespeople you will need and can manage your project. He does what he says, and communicates well. I look forward to hopefully many more projects with his supervision.
Please feel free to tell all of them that they were recommended by Kristin Britt from Town and Country Homes, as I want them to know I believe in them. I have no affiliations or anything, just like good people who do good work. Vote for the companies you believe in with your dollars, right? Hope this helps, and I hope you have a great experience with these folks too.
