Our commitment: personal touch and deep-seated community connection who celebrates the dedication of those who care for others. The Start of Something Good. The story of our credit union began humbly - smaller than a bread box, as they say. Vincent's Portland Federal Credit Union became the first to be officially chartered, proudly serving the employees of St. Vincent's and their families. Seven y
ears later, in 1969, the second credit union was formed – Providence Portland Employees Federal Credit Union. It started with just a handful of depositors, a borrowed employee, and a volunteer board of directors. These the two small passionate groups of medical professionals built not-for-profit credit unions rooted in service, community, and trust. Both institutions offered competitive loan and deposit rates, convenient services, and a strong commitment to helping members build a brighter financial future. In 1997, the two credit unions made a smart and forward-thinking decision: to merge and become one stronger, more promising financial institution – Providence Health System Federal Credit Union. Thirteen years later, in 2010, to better reflect our identity as a full-service financial institution – while staying true to the strength of our core partnership – we embraced a new name: Providence Federal Credit Union. Along with it came a fresh, tagline that spoke to our mission – Doing What's Right. In 2023, we proudly welcomed the United Domestic Workers Union (UDW) into our membership family. It's another important step in expanding our commitment to those who care for others. And now, in 2025, we've taken another exciting step forward by merging with Consolidated Community Credit Union (CCCU). As part of the CCCU family, we are proud to be Providence Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions in the United States serving employees and their families in the healthcare industry.
