Our (failed) attempt to climb Mount Washington via the west ridge, a 5.8 trad climb with seven pitches. After a long hike and bushwhacking to the base, we faced unexpected cold, rain, and 30 mph winds. I got about a third of the way up the first pitch before my fingers froze, so we decided to bail and hike back to the RV. We’ll try again another time. 😢

Don’t fall for this spoofed profile. The real Mike Maier knows how to spell mortgage. 😭

When you’re burning 10,000 calories a day, luggin’ a 50 lb pack of climbing gear into the back country, you need to stay well fed! I also do mortgages.

We provide a quick update on the real estate and economic forecast from last week, discussing the forces driving mortgage rates and their effect on the housing market. We share new data supporting our previous assertions, including the ADP Private Payrolls Report showing only 22,000 jobs added and the JOLTS report indicating fewer job openings. We explain how this data leads to increased mortgage bond market activity and lower mortgage rates, which ultimately results in higher home prices. We discuss why now is the right time to buy a home if you need or want one, rather than waiting speculatively.
