Pressure is a red flag.

Scammers want you worried, rushed, and acting before you have time to think. If someone demands immediate payment, asks for sensitive information, or sends a suspicious link, stop and verify the request through an official channel.

Before you insert your credit card at the gas pump, ATM, or payment terminal, take a few seconds to inspect the reader.

Skimmers can capture information from a card’s magnetic stripe, while shimmers are thin devices hidden inside a reader that target chip cards.

Both can be difficult to spot, but a quick check may help you avoid a compromised machine.

👀 Look for anything loose, crooked, damaged, or out of place.
✋ Give the card reader a gentle tug.
🔒 Cover the keypad when entering your PIN.
📱 Use tap-to-pay or a mobile wallet when available.
🚩 If something looks off, don’t use the machine.

Keep an eye on your account and report transactions you don’t recognize as soon as possible.

If you receive a fraud alert from us, respond promptly, but never give your PIN, online banking password, or security code to someone who contacts you unexpectedly.

A few seconds of caution can make a difference.
