Why I suggest creating a new email when you’re getting a mortgage?
Most of our everyday emails and passwords have already been shared, leaked, or sold on the dark web, usually without us ever knowing. During a home purchase you are emailing sensitive information and receiving wire instructions, which makes this a prime target for fraud.
Creating a brand new email with a brand new password adds an extra layer of protection.
• It has not been shared yet
• It is not tied to old logins or past data breaches
• It makes it much harder for scammers to impersonate anyone in the transaction
There is also a practical bonus. Once you are in contract you will get a lot of emails from your realtor, escrow, and lender. Having one dedicated email gives you a clean place to keep everything organized.
