We love seeing our corporate foundation invest in solutions that are transforming children's mental health care. This is one of those stories!

Meet Anne. Later this week, she'll graduate from The Ballmer Institute for Children's Behavioral Health at the University of Oregon and begin her career at a pediatric clinic where she interned — the same clinic that cared for her as a child. Anne is one of 17 students in the Ballmer Institute's first graduating class; they’re the first cohort to complete the nation's only bachelor's degree program in children's behavioral health. Cambia Health Foundation invested in this program to address the youth mental health crisis and improve access to care. These 17 graduates are exactly the kind of workforce solution that investment was meant to create. Soon, they'll head into schools and clinics across Oregon to serve young people who need them most.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026! 👏

Regence member Jeffrey Trela-Hoskins, 26, lives with a rare neurological disorder. When he was discharged from the hospital earlier this year with a new feeding tube, his family was counting on a timely delivery of supplies. But the delivery stalled, and they were down to the last tube feeding.

His mom, Patty, called Regence Care Manager Kimberley S., RN, BSN.

Kimberley identified the hold-up, contacted the provider's clinic and made sure the right people were urgently paged. The next day, Patty called her back. "I don't know what you did, but they're delivering everything we need tonight.”

Kimberley's intervention helped Jeffrey get the right care at the right time. The family avoided another hospitalization and saved an estimated $43,000 in potential inpatient costs.

For Patty, it's about more than logistics. It's about trust. "Sometimes you feel like you're all alone in healthcare, and you're not getting what you need,” she says. Working with a Regence care manager is “like having a friend on the inside."

When a Regence member went to the ER multiple times for chest pains and cardiac testing found nothing wrong, Behavioral Health Care Manager Amy Beitia was able to see what tests couldn’t. She uncovered the real cause of the member’s pain: panic attacks triggered by PTSD.

Beitia connected the member to trauma-focused therapy and a virtual cardiac specialist. The chest pains went away. Healthcare costs went down. And the member reported feeling better than they had in years.

Nearly 44 million unpaid caregivers in the U.S. carry immense responsibility, more than 75% of whom are women. That stress is real — and it shows up in the body as hypertension, anxiety, depression and elevated heart disease risk. The good news? 80% of heart disease is preventable.

This morning, we attended the conversation at the Go Red for Women Circle of Red: Caretaking Hearts event, where our Foundation president Peggy Maguire spoke to their investments in behavioral health and caregiver support through partners like the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers and the National Alliance for Caregiving. Thanks to American Heart Association for hosting the event, and to Bridge Meadows for participating in the panel alongside Cambia Health Foundation!

When her daughters — who have a rare metabolic disorder — lost the in-network supplier of their essential medical formula, Regence member Marie P. faced a $1,400 bill and a race against the clock.

That's when Care Manager Kayla Angiono stepped in.

Angiono contacted more than 10 suppliers, called formula manufacturers directly and ultimately found an in-network solution that kept the girls healthy and saved the family from out-of-pocket costs—all at no extra cost to Marie.

"It's such a gift to have an advocate who is on my side and working for me." - Marie P., Regence member
